I wouldn't use oil directly in the fuel can; scented candles can help mask the odor, but pine-scented incense sticks are the most effective. You can light them, place them on the logs in your fireplace, or put them in an incense burner nearby to make it smell like a real wood fire. I've been using Campfire Products Inc.'s Christmas Memories. 59903-P.O. Box 86, Kalispell, Montana Phone: 0086-406-406-406-406-406-406-406-406 752- For over 20 years, I've used 1066 to mask the odor of my Real Flame fireplaces, and it's fantastic. This information could be out of date, so do some research on the company on the internet.
There is a time limit on them. However, if you store them in a heated area, such as a basement or utility room, they will last much longer (in my opinion). If your garage isn't heated, you won't be able to park in it. Things change once they've been frozen.
Each can produces 5,000 BTUs and lasts about an hour. I use two cans, which heat my second floor in 2 3/4 to 3 hours. During the winter, I use less oil to keep warm.
The lids can be used to smother them, but you'll need a long pair of tongs or a special tool with a magnetic end that you can buy separately. You must exercise extreme caution in order to avoid burning yourself. I simply left them to burn until they were completely consumed.

I had always relied on SunJel, but I wanted to give this a shot. I'll make a comparison for you. Real Flame appears to burn a little longer than SunJel. br>br>Burn time: br>br>Crackling: br>br> SunJel's sound was more akin to that of a crackling fire. br>br>Heat: br>br>Infrared: br>br>Inf SunJel was very hot. Real Flame, on the other hand, did not appear to warm the room as well. br>br>Fumes: br>br>Inhalants: br>br>Inhalants: SunJel emitted minor fumes while burning and a burst of fumes when the can was finished. This was reduced by vigorously shaking the can before opening it. While Real Flame was burning, it had no odor, but as it died, it released the stench of the zombie apocalypse. The stench was so strong that it made my eyes water and forced me to open the windows on a cold night. I'm down to my last 22 cans! If I survive this bout with Real Flame, I'll be returning to SunJel. It burns well, but I'm not a fan of the stench.
We were stuck inside one winter a few years ago, and I desperately desired a natural fire; we have a (wood) fireplace, but I've never had much luck with it, and the house always ends up colder and smelling like smoke. I calculated the cost of running a gas line to convert it to a gas fireplace or installing an insert and determined that it was too expensive for what I wanted. For atmosphere, a few small fires were lit here and there. I came across "gel fires" by chance and have been using these gel cans ever since. The fire lasted anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. It takes 3 hours and even makes a crackling sound like a real fire, but you have to be careful with the prep and discard. Make sure to remove the label before lighting the can (it easily lights) and don't get gel on anything else (it's very flammable). You must also ensure that the hot cans are completely cool before discarding them, but overall, this is an extremely effective fire system. As a wannabe prepper, it also serves as a source of heat and cooking when there is no power.
The cans were delivered in a box that was placed inside an Amazon box. The issue was that they put the box in upside-down, which meant that even though the outer Amazon box was upright, all of the cans inside were upside-down. In addition, nine of the twelve cans were dented, causing some lids to loosen. Add in the fact that many of them were upside-down and on the verge of leaking. Because of their flammability, these items are only permitted to be shipped by ground. Shouldn't the shippers, then, be much more cautious? br>As for the product's quality, I've been using them for a long time. They give off a stunning flame. I enjoy the occasional crackling sound, which reminds me of a real wood fire, but there is no odor. They burn cleanly, just like they're supposed to. I live in South Florida and purchase them primarily for the ambient effect at Christmas, but they also provide adequate heat. You can definitely get warm by the fire if your fireplace allows two cans at a time. br>If they hadn't been shipped so carelessly, I would give them five stars. I hope this information is useful to you.
Purchased several years ago, when they still offered a wide range of models and sizes. During the long, dark winters on the east coast, I use them for ambiance (1 can at a time). They've also saved my life. last winter, when there were frequent power outages (we were all- Here's where it gets electric. Electric "fake flame" fireplaces are being used by my neighbors. When the power goes out, all of these things are useless. A real, crackling flame, after all, is unrivaled! The Real Flame gel is a long-lasting and clean-burning gel. On a cold night, when you use two or three cans, you'll be surprised at how much heat they produce! I recommend opening the cans about a half hour before use to allow any lingering alcohol odor to dissipate quickly.
About 1. 5 years ago, it was no longer acceptable to burn more than one can at a time because the noxious fumes were unavoidable - We're both smokers, by the way. So I'm telling you the truth when I say something has changed - Is it possible that you are the owner? Who are the raw material suppliers? Since then, we haven't spent nearly as much on a single case. To keep warm, I'd be better off burning truffle oil - It would, at the very least, have a better odor.
Every year, I purchase this to enjoy the comforting crackling of a real fire. br>br>With my small gel fireplace mantel, the small house gets the cozy feel that only a crackling fireplace can provide. br>br>Like a real fire, the flame dances and crackles, but not in an overbearing or loud manner. Everything is in place. br>br>Be sure to thoroughly shake each can to ensure that it is completely burned. br>br>Each can burns for about two hours and a half. br>br>The odor is faint but pervasive, a gaseous odor that can be easily covered with a candle. br>br>While the heat it produces is adequate, it is insufficient to adequately warm a room. These are purely decorative and not heat sources at all. br>br>Overall, I really like these gel fires and would recommend them to anyone who lives in an apartment or somewhere else where a real fireplace isn't possible.
The warm popping crackling of the fire makes it sound like you're outside having a small fire. Wal-Mart charges $10. 00 for 24 cans. Mart was looking for a hundred. I paid 105 in this case. 00 if the count and brand are exactly the same.
To be honest, it's lovely to look at, but I wouldn't recommend it as a primary heat source unless you have a very small living space. This gel adds warmth to the room, but only by a few degrees. It's noticeable and comfortable, but it's not fantastic. Despite this, we continue to enjoy it. The crackling of the flames with the fireplace log is one of my favorite sounds. That's a very soothing and relaxing sound. I prefer to use three cans at once because they don't last very long. Maybe three hours, but I've noticed that when people come by in the winter, they like to stop and stare at it. br>br>It's a lovely, welcoming addition to any home. I'm going to buy more of these.
