I have a 12x20 bedroom with high ceilings (railroad apartment) and have been using this for the past three years. Set the temperature to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I turn down the heat after about an hour or it turns off. This year, I'll most likely get another for the apartment's opposite end.
This is the model I have, which I purchased in 2015 or 2016. I just tipped it over on purpose (using cushions) to see if it had an auto shut off feature. It doesn't have an auto shutoff, but because the outer plastic shell doesn't get very hot, it might not be necessary. But, since I have no children or pets, it makes no difference to me.
The back, top, and sides of the vehicle remain cool, but the hot air coming out of the front is extremely hot. The front plastic grills remain hot for a long time after you turn it off.

October 2017 update: I bought this heater in January 2017, so it's been 9 months since then, with only 4 months of use. It was put away for the rest of the summer, but when it got cold in NJ last night, I decided to put it back to work. To my surprise, the outlet began to smoke as soon as I plugged it in! There was no moisture on the plug, and the outlet was in perfect working order! I'm devastated that this happened because I adored this heater. But I'm afraid that if I buy another one, something similar will happen. br>br>I am so happy I purchased this heater. It's incredibly simple to operate, with easily accessible buttons and a useful remote control included. It can be set to a number of different temperatures in degrees: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, and MAX are the digits that make up the numbers 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, and MA It allows you to schedule the heater to turn off at a specific time, or you can simply set the temperature and it will turn off on its own. It quickly heats up the room, which is especially useful now that the weather in New Jersey has turned sour! The heater was well-protected by the packaging, which arrived quickly.

I'm not blaming Amazon for this, but it's possible that defective products are sold on Amazon – and Amazon isn't even aware of it! But how are all these different manufacturers getting away with it? Within two months, the oscillation was broken for the first time. The ceramic began to melt the unit from the inside out after the fan stopped blowing. Thank goodness it was during the day and I was at home with my new baby. When it began to smoke, I was able to catch it. It was the fan that smelled like burning plastic. After it cooled down, I threw it out on the patio. So no one could use it, I cut the cord. Despite the fact that it had clearly melted.
This heater has been on my wish list for ten days. The base arrived cracked and a piece had broken off in shipping because it was only shipped in the manufacturer's box. I only use it for an hour or two at a time and unplug it when not in use, but the plug heats up to the point of melting my outlet. For the time being, I'm not going to use the heater.

It's a decent heater, in my opinion. I recently purchased an older home in which the heat is distributed throughout the house except in the bedrooms. During the cold season, we sleep with the heater on every night. So far, it hasn't failed or broken. It heats a insulated bedroom nicely, so when the temperature reaches the set limit, it turns off and takes a breather. I'm going to estimate that the bedrooms we have are between 300 and 400 square feet. 350 sq. ft. and a thin layer of insulation I'd look for a different heater if the space was larger. There are many choices, so don't limit yourself to one that you "like. " Instead, do your homework and find a heater that is appropriate for your needs. People burn down houses in unimaginable numbers every year because they buy these cool little heaters that aren't big enough for the area they're supposed to heat, so they run, run, run. Older electric wiring is more likely to cause this than newer wiring, but it will heat up until the house catches fire, so get the right source of heat and the right size. br>br>I received no compensation for this review. It makes me laugh because when I read reviews, I automatically assume someone is being deceitful and lying, but in all seriousness, it makes me laugh.
