Yes, it is a hot air blower. It's a force to be reckoned with for its size. My central heat went out earlier this month, and until I can get a new one installed, I'm using three of these heaters to keep my 14X80 mobile home warm. And, unlike some portable heaters, they do not overheat when left on for long periods of time.
Yes, the cord is sufficiently long. If you need the room to heat up quickly, the heater should be placed on the floor.
Yes, ours spends half of its time on the carpet, but we love this little heater!
I'm not sure how much current it consumes. It has a wattage of 1500 and can easily heat a 12x14 room. It has completely satisfied me.

The prongs in my wall receptical melted after catching fire at the plug. It took a few moments for me to realize it was the heater after I smelled something burning. A small fire had started in my receptical by that time. I can't get in touch with Andily, and Amazon doesn't seem to mind either.
It is the BEST LITTLE HEATER EVER. So, when I received this package, I thought to myself, So I live on the third floor of my house, which is a huge room, like half the attic of a three bedroom house, and it was SOOO small, like my coffee maker is bigger than this heater, but what do you expect for like $20? So I live on the third floor of my house, which is a huge room, like half the attic of a three bedroom house, but what do you expect for like $20? The room is poorly insulated and, in the winter, becomes extremely cold. I figured I'd give the small heater a shot anyway, assuming I'd have to keep it running all the time to keep the room warm. I pretended to be in Hawaii for FIVE MINUTES after plugging that heater in. I was astounded by how hot the entire room was. I like how it doesn't take up a lot of room and isn't overly bulky, but it DOES PUMP! It was money well spent. It has a high and low setting, as well as a fan setting, which I use frequently because it gets hot. It's also safe because it turns off automatically if it tips to the left, right, front, or back. I strongly suggest it.
Only had it for a few months but hadn't used it because of the summer when I went to plug it in today because it was getting colder and the whole thing caught fire in seconds.
The cord caught fire and there was no safety feature.
I bought it so that I wouldn't have to freeze to death in the library study rooms when I was at school (I'm a graduate student). I've had it for a few months now, and it's made me the talk of the town in addition to acting as a small mini furnace. People couldn't believe I bought it and that it worked, and they couldn't believe it now. They've all expressed an interest in studying with me, so thank you for the social support, little space heater.
Pros: Work is excellent! Our apartment is a small two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit that heats the majority of the house adequately on its own. Basically, it accomplishes the following: It will beautifully heat up a small space. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. Our electric bill increased by a factor of two because I needed to keep our reptiles warm during the winter and assumed that using a space heater would save energy (this was a bad idea; instead, use heat mats and heat emitters for your tanks). To cut a long story short, unless you absolutely must, do not leave it running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, I'm not sure if there was something wrong with the heat I got, but it only came out of the left side of the vent. Because it also emits downward, I had to put the heater on a small stand to keep it from burning the carpet.
type of odor When I first opened the box, I smelled a strong, chemical-like odor. type of odor After the new heater sat unused for a while - not activated - For an hour, I was in a large room with a foul odor that made my eyes water and my nose "close up. " " Even after several washes, my hands reeked of chemicals after handling it. " Despite the fact that the directions said to run it for two hours to get rid of the odor, I was concerned that doing so would result in more health problems and an unpleasant environment. As a result, I'll return it the next day.
We've had these for a couple of weeks and use them in both our bedroom and our son's room. I like that you can set the temperature with a small dial (not a numbered reading, but a " to - "). "), and it turns off when the temperature in the room reaches that level. If your room is warm enough, it will turn on and off on its own at night. I also like how it has a push-in clicker on the bottom so that if it is knocked over or if it is placed on an uneven surface, the heater will shut off instead of turning on. When it comes to children, this is especially important.
