The filter does what it's supposed to do, which is to capture more pollen, dust, etc. than the standard window AC filter can. There are just a lot of problems with this program. As mentioned above, cutting it to size isn't as easy as it seems. The instructions say to cut it 1" smaller on each side. For a window unit filter that is already small, that was a lot of real estate wasted, and the manufacturer's filter would have tape residue on it. My opinion is that neither of the two is a good idea.
