The fan does a good job of keeping my bedroom cool, which is about 200 square feet. A foot. This is a relatively small machine. I would not consider it to be overly loud. I have concerns about how the remote, the app, and the buttons on the face work together. In the app, you will always see the settings of your unit, and any changes made on the unit themselves will be reflected on the app as well. It is not the case with the remote, which must be turned on/off for changes made elsewhere to be visible. I realize that it is a minor flaw and not something that would render the AC useless, but it deserves mention nonetheless. I noticed one peculiar behavior that occurs every time I turn on the device using the app when the display is on, it turns on the entire unit. does not offer an option to turn off the display, and neither does the device itself, so the remote is the only way to turn it off. The blue LED light on the display is quite bright, so I typically turn it off before going to sleep. I found that if I turned the unit on with the app, then used the remote to turn the display off, the unit actually shutting off. There is no way to circumvent this strange behavior, and I'm not sure if it can be fixed. Although the unit has the most recent firmware, there is still a problem. The on/off schedule for the unit works smoothly, and I've been able to use just the Auto setting for the fan speed and the Cool setting for the air conditioner. The process of pairing the unit with WiFi isn't as straightforward as you might think, but it doesn't take long. As part of the pairing instructions, you must press the display button six times within six seconds in order to prepare the device. It is not enough to push it 6 times and hear the 6 beeps. In order for the button to work correctly, you should wait a beat between pressing each button. I am short-term owner, but I have not had any problems with it except for the power supply, but otherwise I would say it does a good job. It would be great to get a firmware/app update in the future so that the display settings are handled.
Having read a lot of good things about Freidrich air conditioners and known someone who had one that was very quiet before purchasing this unit, I decided to purchase one. Because the air conditioning unit is in my daughter's room, I specifically wanted a quiet unit. However, it's not as quiet as I would like it to be. In addition to the thermostat, I wanted the unit to have a standby battery. We've found after using the thermostat for a little over a month in July this year in LA the thermostat doesn't really work very well. As far as I can tell, the thermostat is part of a section of the unit that stands The A/C stays on most of the time when it's hot outside at almost any temperature the thermostat is set to most of the time. The remote does not sync with the change(s) if you press buttons on the unit. You'll probably agree that this is weird if you get the device. I know it doesn't sound important, but it really is. I believe you'll agree when you get the device. As well as the WiFi, it doesn't work. Besides that, the unit keeps the room cool nicely and is fairly quiet, but if you are looking for a basic compact window A/C unit at a lower price, you may want to consider other Frigidaire units. There appears to be a few choices.

Friedrich was one of the reviews I read, and I did research into AC units and well known brands, so I thought it would be a good choice. I am terribly disappointed. Despite my apartment measuring 11 by 14 feet, this air conditioner did not reduce the temperature in my apartment by a single degree, even at the highest setting. I can hear it from the hallway of my building because it is very loud. During work calls, I have to turn it off all the way, even the low volume is too much on a telephone The AC won't help you lower the temperature of a room if you want to change it.
