Questions & Answers

These stands provide support for vintage audio studio speakers, but do they offer enough strength? Neither of them weigh more than 30 pounds. ?

I have two speakers that are 28" x 11" x 16" in size and weigh 55 pounds Over the last six months, I have filled both of the speakers stands with play sand and put them on a carpeted area with no problems.

Can you tell me the size of the top plate?

The plates are 6X7 inches in size.

Have Klipsch The Six systems been a problem for those with them perched on top of these stands? Was their complicated footprint a hindrance?

Those sit fine on that stand, but the Pangea stand is about a 1/4 inch too long to fit in the space under the sixes' foot. Nevertheless, I am able to get them set up on their own with no You should make sure you get a stand that does not stand too tall since the stand angles up a little.

Is there a weight difference between each 28" stand?

According to the quote, the set will weigh 59 pounds when it ships. The weight is 8 pounds. This would result in a weight of 29 lbs for each stand, minus a pound or so for packaging. My sand filled a little over 70 lbs, so you will want to consider other factors as well, such as the weight of whatever media you use to fill the holes with.

My stance on these stands is very frustrating! My stance on these stands is very frustrating! As I go from a two-year undergraduate degree to a bachelor's degree For the time, hassle, and effort I had to expend to put it together, I've changed it from a one star rating to an "I don't like it" rating
3/5

The price point of $229 is way too high for me! It's not a bad finish, but there are several small spots with no coating, some spots are over-coated The spray was left to drip. It has a few scratches on the legs, not badly but I expect more for the price! I will now tell you the painful part of the story. A customer noted that the columns do not line up evenly, causing the stands to wobble (in my case on tile flooring). Despite tightening each screw slowly, changing the legs, etc, the base plate does not align flush when all hardware is tightened. am yet to thread all spikes into the base plate, so I cannot tell you why. There is either too much information or not enough information in one of the threads The spike thread won't catch if it is sprayed or not tapped correctly. If I try to force it, I will likely strip When the stands were out of the scratch you could- It may be possible to buy a dent pile for $75. The price point is reasonable for this product. The best is yet to come! The Ph. D. program. In order to produce the best sound from these stands, you will have to fill them with sand. Columns of hollow steel sitting unevenly on a tile floor will not deliver better sound than a nice, thick, solid base made of wood. Listeners at home will not be able to understand it, at least not easily.

They are heavy duty stands that are impressive
4/5

In a nutshell For my KEF Carina II speakers, I was worried the top plate would be a bit small. These stands surprisingly seem quite stable for the type of construction with sand filled tubes and BlueTack used to prevent any unwanted movement between the speaker base and the top plate. I observed no damage or marring to the finish of my stands due to the way they were packed. I was able to assemble the unit by myself fairly easily on a dining room table because all threaded parts were machined properly. It took about an hour from start to finish, including sand filling and cleaning The two 50lb bags of play sand that I bought from Lowes cost around $5 each. As I filled with the stands, I placed them on cardboard packaging to keep spills to a minimum. However, my gear got a coating of the sand dust produced when the stands were poured. Assembled, the top plate and the base are not exactly square and this is the only complaint. The same thing happened to me with a center channel stand I bought a while back from a different brand with a Even if the speaker footprint is slightly larger than the base plate, it is not a big deal. This is the first time I have noticed a "Pangea" branding plate. You will find it with the hardware on an adhesive backing that you can peel off. The decision about whether I will install it has not yet been made. In terms of performance, here are some points to keep in mind The tweeters of my speakers used to be attached to my shins they were previously on the floor. On this specific speaker, the tweeter is located right above ear level due to the 28" stands. I had considered the 32" screen at one time, but decided not to for aesthetic reasons in my I've noticed an impressive improvement over previous speaker placements. The midbass is much more solid and present and the overall imaging is superior to my old setup. In the past, I've worked with a set of KEF E301 satellites which are positioned on the floor in conjunction with them in the "B" output. I no longer need them with my current proper setup with these stands after they served their purpose well. It is important to fill these with some type of material as these are quite heavy and ring like a bell until they are They become much heavier and more stable when filled, and they also eliminate unwanted resonance when operated. When you are in the market for a sturdy pair of stands, you can buy them with confidence, as the price is similar to the overall value and quality.

Despite its heavy duty nature, the fit and finish are poor
4/5

For the price, the Pangea stands are rather expensive compared to what you get. In all honesty, I was expecting a much better fit and finish given the price. 1. There is one positive aspect of the situation There is no doubt that they are Neither one of the parts was missing and assembling them was a breeze. On the minus side
1. It appears that the top and bottom plates are not perfectly in alignment. As a result, the speakers will not be "square" to the bottom plate unless they sit slightly "skew" Since the stands are made in such a way that can't be easily fixed, it is not obvious how to fix the problem. I'm talking to you, Instead of using 4 separate tubes that are hard to align, combine them into one square, heavy-duty steel tube. * * 2. There are many areas where the spray paint finish is poor quality, ultra flat, and easily scuffed. Rather than rely on their product's warranty, buyers may want to coat their stands with a coating of high quality semi-gloss paint The parts could be sprayed with glossy paint before assembly few of the speaker posts I received were scratched, but I was able to assemble the stands with the blemished insides facing outwards. Overall, the paint job was uniform and there was no paint missing from any spots. There is no doubt that a powder coated finish would be an 1. 2. 3. Despite being supposed to hold a speaker, the top mounting plate appears to be quite Over time, it is possible that a speaker may vibrate to one side or another, become unbalanced, and finally fall to the ground. To prevent the speakers from coupling to the stands and creating resonance on the metal tubes, I bought some 1/4" neoprene rubber, cut it to match the foot loop of my speaker and placed it between the speaker and the support plate. Works great! Vibrations of any kind are not welcome. In addition to the BBs, I also strapped the speaker to the plate with a long piece of velcro matching the black color of the speaker cabinet and stands since I have a small dog I may be able to topple. 4 *br /*br A floor spike is the only alternative that Panea offers. The wood floors in my house cannot be spiked, so I won't be using floor spikes. In order to do that, I bought a couple sets of GD-style dice The following are parts found at Amazon. com Solid Aluminum Speaker Feet 49x22m. The speaker feet could be used with the spikes, but I decided to drill the holes in the feet a bit larger so I can bolt them to the bottom of the stands using the spike holes. This round speaker foot is extremely well made, and it works wonders! To further safeguard the floor, I bought some 2" SuperSliders Formed Felt Furniture Movers (also from Amazon) that fit perfectly over the bottom of the round speaker feet, allowing me to slide the speaker stands across my hardwood floors with ease if need be. The final modification I made (prior to attaching the top plate to the stands) was to add about 14 lbs of bb shot (2 boxes of 10,000 ct silver zinc plated metal BBs are currently available at Amazon. Five millimeters Each stand is given an additional 177 Cal) from Amazon) as weight to make it even less likely that it will topple. I probably did not need the additional weight, but I want to help protect my speakers. The metal BBs were used rather than sand so you wouldn't get internal rusting issues, which could have occurred with sand, since it can absorb moisture or humidity. Although it took me "a project" to make all these modifications, I am very happy with the end result and the way the speaker stands stand up. Essentially, if you want a set of heavy duty speaker stands for your home theater system and are not a perfectionist about fit and finish, these are a worthwhile option.
