It is my intent to share the whole story with other parents who may be in the same situation. This desk comes with a paper roll and I cannot emphasize how easy it is to put paper on it. As the table is wiped down, there is more and more red showing through the On top of the bright red paint, there seems to be a VERY thin layer of chalkboard It is highly unlikely we ever used chalk on the table since the table would have looked like it survived war if we did. There is a lot of paint peeling off this $200+ table, and the legs need to be tightened constantly. The ALEX BRAND TOYS company not only made an inferior product, but they did not even provide a response to the issues I had with this table. I would not recommend this company based on my terrible experience with this product.
There was a break at the pressure point of the table. The weekly MDF is this week. There was a crack running along both sides of the table between the paper roll and the edge, and one of the three cups was missing. Four year old daughter got a broken table for Christmas from Santa Claus. tried reaching ALEX, but so far I've only received a voicemail message. ALEX has resolved the issue and I will update this review when they do.
Please note that This beautiful table has been constructed from heavy materials. One of my niece's children had one for their playroom, and she told me that the end has broken off in the move, but a metal brace has been installed, so she can reassemble. Earlier this year, I ordered one for my grandson and the package was incredibly I also could not fit it in the car because it was too large. I then decided to assemble the table in my garage and hastily found out that the table had failed in exactly the same place as my niece's table. Only returning it and requesting another delivery would be a viable option. When I tried to open the box, I mangled it and dreaded the whole return process. In the coming week, I plan to contact the company and ask if they will just send me a new top and not ask me to send the broken one back. In the event that I have further information about the company, I will update this post. Tables of this type seem to run into this issue quite often. I have updated here as of May 5, 2019. Our approach was to buy 45 cents worth of steel brackets and reinforce the "wings" of the table instead of returning it. Newer and better than before. Although it's not a bad idea even if yours isn't broken, reading the manual is a good idea. Despite its age, the table is running strong, and it gets daily abuse from its users.
