It looks like wood very realistically. This set of nightstands is excellent - I am very pleased with them Once they are assembled, it is difficult to tell that they aren't real wood. Even though they look like wood, the fact that they are MDF is hard to tell. MDF furniture of the best quality that I have ever encountered and easy to assemble with your own screwdriver and hammer, as it doesn't require them to provide allen wrenches, etc. Assembly instructions are clear and the instructions are very simple. In comparison to all the other pieces of furniture we've put together recently, assembling this one was almost enjoyable. Since the drawer does not have wheels on the track, it doesn't glide as smoothly as a buttery smooth drawer would, but it still slides in and out fine. The nightstands I bought came with a matching dresser and I was so happy with the deal that I bought one as well.
As I stepped out of the house today, I was surprised by how nice my night stand was. I did and it is excellent! One thing I like about the instructions is that they are some of the best I have seen recently.
