You need to be extremely patient to accomplish this. The device is a great buy, but be aware of the dangers. This is a great looking product, well built and not a bad price. The only thing I fear is that it is a particle board product without a water protection layer on top, which makes it weird for a nightstand. After the water is cleaned, only very small amounts of water, such as from water bottle condensation, will result in a swelling of the top and peeling of wood grain. I contacted the company and received exceptional customer service as well as a new top to the night stand with a warning NOT TO GET WET on it. They are now working on either getting better information to customers or finding a solution. They agreed and are working on it again. So, I proposed that a night stand should be able to have a bottle of water on it at night. I had an easy time communicating with them and they took care of my problem.
