After two months, it was completely broken. This box spring has been in my possession for about two months. The top mattress is a 6" memory foam mattress from the following website: .
I bought two of these in queen size, and I can't say enough good things about this box spring/foundation. To begin with, it arrived three days ahead of schedule. The boxes are large, but not as heavy as you might think; I'm a grown man, and I had no trouble moving them indoors and up a flight of stairs, but it would have been much easier with two people. Surprisingly, getting these mattresses out of the box is the most difficult part of the assembly process. Once they're out, all you have to do is fold them open and you're done. There were no tools, no cutting, and no other necessities. They were set up and ready to go after 5 minutes each (4 of which was spent getting them out of the boxes). They're made up of a metal frame with a zip-around closure. The entire thing is encased in a fabric liner. It has the appearance of a solid box spring and performs similarly. This is a product that I would recommend to everyone.
We moved into a house with an old, narrow stairwell leading to an attic bedroom. This was exactly what we needed to get upstairs and use our queen-sized bed. It is folded when you receive it. Simply carry it upstairs and open the metal frame. All of the metal is hidden by the fabric cover, which makes it appear to be a regular box spring. I can't tell the difference between this mattress and a "real" boxspring mattress. After one year of use: br>br> After a while, the metal began to bend. My husband isn't small, to be sure - He weighed around 250 pounds and moved around a lot while sleeping. The zipper would also come undone now and then, causing the top mattress to fold under it. If that happened, all we had to do was pick up the top mattress and re-position it. The box spring stayed in place thanks to the zippered cover. Even though we were glad to get back to a house with normal stairs and a regular box spring after a year and a half in the house with the tight stairs, it worked fine.
My boyfriend had no trouble setting up this box spring. It's convenient that it comes in two pieces, because each side of the California King size box spring appears to be quite heavy and sturdy. br>br>I placed it on my hardwood floor, half of it on a rug, and atop it, my new mattress. It's almost silent, which is a huge improvement over my claustrophobic metal bedframe. My mattress is on top of it in the picture. br>br>.
This thing comes in a box about half the length and width of a queen-size mattress and only weighs about three pounds. 4 inches in depth We had our doubts. It expanded into a very stable box spring after we opened the box and followed the simple instructions. If we ever needed another, we would definitely purchase this. Note: When expanding the frame, be sure to follow the directions and avoid grasping the sides. OUCH! There's a major pinch hazard here.
So far, the quality and construction have been excellent, and we are delighted to have a solid foundation on which to reinstall our mattress. I'm glad we chose this over another wood or some of the flimsier options available.
My parents needed a new box spring, so I bought one for them. The previous box spring was 9 inches thick, with a mattress that was 12 inches thick and a frame that was 12 inches tall. This resulted in a bed that was too high for my elderly parents to comfortably get into and out of. The bed's height was lowered by 5 inches as a result of this. I was able to transport it upstairs without dismantling the banister because of the folding design. Strong, solid construction (stairwell dimensions are small). I am pleased with my purchase.
I highly recommend this product in general, but especially for anyone who has trouble getting a regular queen-sized box spring into an apartment, up a winding set of stairs, etc. Product arrived quickly, was incredibly easy to set up, and I believe it will last much longer and provide much more flexibility than a regular box spring. It's strong, attractive, and easy to move around with just one person. I live in an older house with a basement room, and it was easy for me to carry the collapsed mattress down the stairs and set it up. It's basically just a matter of unfolding it and zipping it up. Getting it out of the box it came in was probably the most difficult part.
