A drawer is located at the footboard and at each side of the bed
There is no mattress in it.
In the same boat as you, we have the same difficulty. Those small footboard drawers will only open a little and won't open all the way There is no way to line up the large drawers. A part of it actually broke while we were trying to insert it. A great deal of disappointment has been experienced by us.
This seller would not be a good choice. This item never arrived after I ordered it. After several attempts to cancel my order, I gave up.

However, it was shipped poorly I bought the bed for my college freshman daughter to use when she returns home from college. Having moved into a small house, with no closets and no bedrooms, we chose it for its storage capabilities. This bed is quite high with a mattress on it, but it looks nice and our daughter is happy with it. There is insufficient packaging to bear the weight and the bed has damage parts (one was for internal bracing, and I had to drill and screw a new one in place It was a drawer that had been damaged but could be fixed by pressing it back together and the outer cosmetic damage is not visible due to how the bed was placed). The shipment was so large and heavy that we just didn't want to deal with a return. Assembling this item is a bit of a hassle, due to the fact that the parts are not labelled, and you have to read the entire instruction manual to get an idea of which.
Holy cow there is so much space in this bed. Stunning! I love it so much! Despite the long assembly time, I managed to get it done by myself. At the time I first put it up, I had my box spring and mattress on top of The cupboards and drawers within the unit were extremely high, but I could still access them. It is time just to get the mattress now and I can't wait to use it. Using the extra space at the head of the bed to store my snowboard (pull out a side drawer to get access), I store my winter gear.
The item arrived earlier than expected, and I chose to have the expert assembly performed by an expert (so glad I did!) A few areas of damage were already present when the package arrived. The seller quickly provided me with compensation for the damage after I contacted them. This bed has overall been a great purchase for me - I really like it It is exactly what I was looking for.
A few parts of the bed arrived damaged, but the customer service provided by amazon and the company was excellent. I received a solution via email in less than two days. I was amazed by how easy it was to assemble, how nice the finish was, and how much my daughter loved.

My favorite part of the bed frame is the headboard. Someone with a small room that is large enough to accommodate a queen size bed will find it to be very useful. It is just the right size for a person of normal height and weight, and has plenty of storage. Short people might need a 2-, but tall people might need a 4- You have to step up a ladder to get in There were a few things to assemble, but the directions were very easy to read for the most part. It comes in 4 boxes clearly marked as to what's inside. Additionally, a string was attached to each box, so the needed hardware could be found quickly within. Having a place to stage the boxes would make it easier for you to construct the bed in the position you want. Expect the shipping to take a couple of weeks since it does take 2 weeks for the package to arrive.
Reviewers should have taken the time to read other opinions. It was packaged well for shipping, but when it arrived there were paint crack gaps on either side of the storage drawers, which we will attempt to fix by caulking and refinishing. I loved the style of this bed, but it is a poorly made bed for the price. There are two large storage drawers on either side of the bed that are so difficult to open and close that they are useless until my husband installs can be used, but they don't extend very far, so again not a great way to utilize the space, and will be replaced with better glides as well. A mattress is set on a platform consisting of panels, but the panels are sized so that there is a gap between each instead of one smooth, large It took us a while to realize most of this until the bed was assembled. Although I do not recommend this bed, with some adjustments, I think it will be an ok bed for my daughter. We could have simply returned it. Why didn't we do that? There was so much work unboxing and assembling it that I was intimidated by the idea of trying to take it apart and return it, which is what the seller is banking on, judging by its quality. I am so disappointed because although I could make a few adjustments, this could be a really nice.
This is a great bed because it's huge so you'll have enough room to spread out. Only one person took less than two hours to assemble, but it required a lot of tools. I was very impressed with the packaging. The pieces were all in excellent condition. I am very pleased with my purchase.
