Questions & Answers

How big is it in terms of length, width, and height?

The trunk measures 29 1/4 L x 15 W x 8 3/4 D on the inside.br>The trunk measures 30 L x 15 1/4 W x 12 1/4 D (lid closed) on the outside.br>Include wheels and the trunk stands 12 3/4 L.

Is it true that it weighs 20 pounds?

I didn't weigh it, but it's quite light. br>It's kind of cheap, and I only use it for storage in a bedroom, and I don't even use the lock, as another poster mentioned. If I was going to be using it a lot, I'd get a more expensive locker. It meets my requirements in my situation, is reasonably priced, and appears to be in good condition.

Is it constructed from durable wood? Will it be able to withstand a lot of abuse?

Although it is not made of wood, it is extremely durable. My daughter will use it at summer camp, so we bought it. It has served its purpose admirably. It was previously kept in the attic. As a result, it hasn't been used on a regular basis. I hope this information is useful.

Is it comfortable for you to sit on? Is there a limit to how much weight it can take?

Not much. This is not a particularly comfortable seat.

This is for a dorm room, and it will work perfectly for our purposes
4/5

This was purchased for a dorm room and will be perfect for our needs. This Steward foot locker has a lot of positive aspects. For starters, it has wheels, which will come in handy given the number of locations it will be moved into and out of in the coming years. It has extremely sturdy sides (a common complaint with similar low-cost foot lockers is that the side panels cave in easily). While I doubt you'd be able to sit on it, it would make a nice coffee table on which to rest your feet. It's a beautiful color, and it's lined with a contact paper-like material (rather than rough wood). It doesn't have any odor. It has a good height and is a nice size. There's a front strap and a right strap (for pulling on the left-hand wheels). In addition to latching it shut, there are two other ways to lock it. The end latches appear to be quite strong. br>The only disadvantage I can think of is the built-in lock. Which, in my opinion, is neither dysfunctional nor flimsy. The built-in lock comes with two keys and a plastic locking component that, in my opinion, would be easy to snap apart or break (it hasn't yet). You must push down on a small black switch to open it, and then use their aluminum key to "lock" it. A screwdriver would probably be enough to get into this trunk if someone really wanted to. You could, on the other hand, simply wheel the entire thing away in the first place. I intend to use the second type of lock, which involves physically attaching the lid to the locker with my own padlock. This also eliminates the possibility of misplacing a key. Overall, given the price, I'm pleased with the purchase, and I'm confident it will be put to good use in the dorm room.

Locking trunk with a traditional design
4/5

During Prime Day, I bought one of these Seward 30" trunks for my daughter to use in her dorm as both secure storage and a casual table. The trunk was well packaged (wheels protected) in a sturdy cardboard box when it arrived. I was worried that without another layer of protection (the Amazon box), it would be damaged during shipping, but this was not the case. br>br>The trunk looks exactly like it does in the photo. I got a blue one for about $50 and had low expectations after looking at other trunks of similar size, but I was pleasantly surprised by the medium to heavy duty build quality. It's not comparable to one three times the price, but if you want good-looking, sturdy, locking storage, it's well worth the money. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT: br>br>WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT: br>br>WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT Stylish, traditional design. br>br> br>Handles on the top and one side make maneuvering it much easier than it would be if it didn't have any. br>It has two wheels that help move the trunk around. The trunk comes with two keys that can be used to lock and unlock it. The trunk's hardware isn't flimsy at all. br>The trunk is 'just the right size' to fill up while still being able to be moved around by one person. br>The matte exterior finish does not appear to be easily scratched. br>It's a bit heavy (approximately 20 pounds). When empty, it weighs 25 pounds) - I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. br>It's a good deal! WHAT COULD BE BETTER: br>br>WHERE COULD IT BE BETTER: br>br>WHERE COULD IT BE BETTER The two wheels are small, fixed, and do not swivel. br>br> They do occupy a small amount of trunk space. While this design has a clean appearance, it appears that the trunk has no wheels at all on some surfaces. br>While the single layer of fiberboard used to construct the sides of this trunk appears to be sturdy, there are bumps inside the trunk where screws were used, which when rubbed on may expose those screws. br>br>FINAL REMARKS: br>br> br>br>I really like this product, and I believe that if you're not looking for a tough-looking product, this is the one for you. You'll be pleased as well if you have a rhino skin trunk. It's not going to be one of those items that lasts for 20 years of continuous use, but with proper care, it could last several years at summer camp or in college. I believe it would work best in a low-traffic environment. It may warp in high-humidity environments due to the fiberboard used in its construction. br>br>I am satisfied with the product for the price I paid and would recommend it to others.

I'd like my money back! I received several requests to review this purchase via email, but I had to decline due to my children's inability to attend Camp until recently
3/5

We were ecstatic to arrive at camp with the new equipment. Each car picked up the trunks and loaded them onto trailers for delivery to the children's cabins, and the same procedure was followed at the end of Camp. As a result, I was extremely disappointed when this trunk did not serve us beyond this one outing. The lid's hinge that connected it to the body had broken. The handles appear to be worn and will most likely break off at any moment if the trunk is still usable. This trunk, in my opinion, is completely worthless.

I had a Seward Trunk similar to this one when I was in college that I kept for many years and only lost during a flood/theft of my previous home, so it's not the best quality, but it looks nice from the outside
3/5

To replace it, I picked up this one. br>br>It has larger wheels than the one I had before, but the overall construction is less expensive. This version's larger wheels are accommodated by an indentation on the inside of the trunk. The case's rivets all poke through the trunk's inner lining, giving the interior a less-than-stellar appearance. It's still adequate for my needs, and it does look nice when closed.

What you pay for is exactly what you get
3/5

This trunk arrived in good condition and was delivered quickly. It looks nice, and the build quality is likely to be on par with the price (that is, low). The trunk is fine for around the house, but I bought it for my son to take to college, and I don't think it will withstand the wear and tear of college dorm life; the handles are low-quality plastic straps, the walls are thin particle board, and the hardware (hinges, lock, etc. ) is all plastic. (All of them are of poor quality. ) The rivets used to secure the hardware protrude through the interior lining, giving it an unfinished appearance, and there's nothing to keep the lid in the open position, making it easy to overextend the hinges or have the lid slam shut accidentally. It screams "handle with care" from every angle. br>It's also a little smaller than other "standard size" trunks in each dimension, by at least an inch or two. br>However, it only cost me $70 to have it delivered to my house. I'll keep it and use it around the house instead of looking for something more rugged for my son to take to college because returning it would probably cost half the price of the item.
