My suggestion is that you use this as a vanity stool for a bedroom or bathroom rather than as an ottoman or foot stool, depending on how your living room is decorated. For the vanity in my bedroom, I love mine.
You can sit on it, don't know if it has a weight limit. My guess is it will hold just a bit over 30 There is a 40 pound weight limit. My is the tray I use to store snacks and the controller I use for television. I love this little stool, it's classy and cute
I think the table is suitable, but it's shorter than usual. I think a small coffee table by the bed is a good idea. The magazine-holder is also very useful for me because it can hold my magazine.
