There was no way to give you any answers or help you with that, which was a major flaw in the instructions. Just keep in mind that particleboard breaks more easily than cardboard.
It is extremely sturdy due to its metal frame and small size. However, without a clear definition of "substantial weight," it's difficult to say whether they'll meet your needs. My only reservation about using them to make a desk is that they are only 24" tall, which is a little short for a "normal" desk.
The drawer's interior dimensions are 15 inches by 15 inches. 4''L x 5''W x 4''H x 4''W x 4 1''H x 6''W x 1''H x 1''W x 1 5'' (W).
The drawer has a stop that prevents it from fully opening.

This table was delivered to me this morning. Putting it together took about 20 minutes. It arrived in good condition, with all of the pieces in place and no scratches on the very sturdy wooden boards. All ends and sides of the boards are covered, allowing you to use them in any direction while still matching all screw holes. It's a nice, sturdy little table that's well worth the money. It fits perfectly next to the recliner, and the drawer opens on the end, making it ideal for use as a recliner side table. I've become an expert at putting furniture together after returning several tables in the last few weeks. However, there are a few things I would change or add to the directions: br>br>*Do not begin Step 1 until you have completed Step 2. If the top part of the leg isn't wobbling around, it will be easier to attach the bottom to Piece 3. Simply place the bottom of the leg on Piece 3 with the opening facing inward, then stand it up and slide on the pieces from Step 1. br>br>*Do not tighten the screws in Part E until both are in place so that it is straight on Step 3. If you tighten the bottom screw first, the holes will not line up when you put in the top screw. br>br>*Additional information on Step 3: Parts 4 and 5 should be screwed to the INSIDE of the arms. If you tighten the screws too much, the metal legs will dent. Part 7 is the last part, as Part E is not included. On the other end, make sure you have Part 7. It fits INSIDE the metal leg once more. Do not tighten the screws until all four are in place, allowing you to pull the board out slightly to ensure the screws are in the predrilled holes. br>br>*On Step 5, the plastic piece appears to be attached to the wooden piece (8) in the picture, but it is not. It simply sits on top of it. Make sure the small edges of the drawer stopper are pointing down towards Part 6. The narrower side of the wooden strip (8) should face Part 6 and the wider side should face upward; this will be the drawer's slider. br>br>*Second Step: When you flip board 6 over, there is no indication of which side Part 8 should be on. Part 8 should be on the end of the chain with the Part E brackets, as this is where your drawer will slide. To make it easier to tighten Screws B, turn the table upside down. If you haven't done so already, tighten all of the screws you've installed so far. br>br>*The Drawer begins in Step 7. When putting it together, make sure you have the drilled out slit on the bottom of all boards; this is where the drawer's bottom slides into. Place the C locks in boards 10 and 11 after you've completed step 9. br>br>*On Step 9: br>br> Tighten the C locks while holding the pieces together with part 13 (the bottom of the drawer first); after the C locks are tightened, it will be easier to screw in piece 12. The 12th piece is placed INSIDE the side pieces. br>br>*Step 10, make sure the flat part of Part F is attached to the drawer; otherwise, the screws won't fit into the board. My side screws were loose, but the center one tightened fine, and it still works. Make sure the little lips are on top of the drawer, as shown, because this is what will go on Part 8 of the drawer, which you assembled earlier, to allow the drawer to slide in and out. br>br>*If you need to remove the drawer after it has been installed, simply reach in and turn the plastic piece you placed beside the wooden strip; the drawer will then be able to be pulled completely out; otherwise, this is the stopper that keeps it from falling out. When you're finished, make sure to tighten everything up.
**Please see the update below*** I ordered two of these and BOTH of them had assembly issues. I've put together numerous pieces of furniture, some of which were far more difficult to assemble than this one. The instructions were incorrect, parts were mislabeled, the groove for the drawer bottom was not completely cut out at the edges, and the foot would not screw into one leg without additional 'persuasion. ' Overall, it's a lovely piece once it's put together. Assembly gets a 2 from me. 5 as well as item 5. br>***seller was quick to respond to my problem and provided a satisfactory solution. The seller also stated that they would contact the factory to resolve any issues with the assembly. Great seller, great communication! As a result, I upgraded from a 4 to a 5 star rating.
Why? I'm not sure. br>I purchased two and am very pleased with them! I love the drawer! If you're looking for a large table, this isn't it, but I liked how long it was. slim- ish look. To give you a sense of scale - The phone in the drawer is an iPhone XR, and the Kindle Fire 8 tablet on top of it is a Kindle Fire 8. On the bottom shelf, I put a gallon of water so you could see how big it is. It is tall from the bottom up.
I placed separate orders for two of these tables. They arrived from various locations and were put together in slightly different ways. Overall, they are quite sturdy, but one of the drawers on one of the tables does not sit straight in the opening, so we had to add something to make it do so. The other table drawer was in good condition, but the bottom cap with the adjustable foot was missing from the table leg. I contacted the company via Amazon to request the cap, but the warehouse informed me that the part was not available. However, removing the other three feet and replacing them with furniture pads was suggested as a possible solution. The leg was fixed by gluing a piece of wood to the bottom and painting it black. They did 20 offer as a compensation. I wouldn't order them again; according to all of the reviews, it's just luck of the draw that all of the parts are present.
This small side table is ideal for a small space. one of the thinnest side tables I could find to fit in our space- We'd need two very thin bedside tables if we wanted two. br>br>I enjoy making furniture out of boxes and have been able to do so without the help of my husband; the first side table took me 1. Because the directions are terrible, it took me 5 hours to complete the first, but only an hour to complete the second. br>br>Benefits: br>br> I really like how it turned out. They appear to be fantastic! Thin. The drawer glides in and out smoothly. I was able to construct the entire structure on my own. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. On both of my tables, the knob will not tighten. I'll have to replace the screw or get a different one? I despise knobs that never stop spinning. And here are the directions once more.
First and foremost, I enjoy the appearance of the table. If it stands the test of time, it will be considered a success. We'll have to wait and see. Although the instructions are adequate for assembly, I had to use my imagination to fill in the blanks. If you know you're not mechanically inclined, I recommend seeking assistance. All of the pieces seemed to fit together, and I only had one screw that wasn't predrilled, so I drilled it out myself. If you apply downward pressure to the drawer, it will not close. This turned out to be a bit of a letdown. I also didn't like the fact that the back of the table is exposed to raw particle board.
The use of fasteners is a problem. The instructions are in the form of a small booklet with only pictures. It was a bit of a puzzle at first, but we figured it out after some trial and error. One of the turnbuckle fasteners shattered easily because it is made of lightweight pot metal. We had to make our own starter holes because some of the screw pilot holes didn't line up, and the wood was soft and didn't hold the screws very well, so we used wood glue to help with the assembly. It's a cute little table once it's put together; I'm not sure it's worth the money we paid for it, but it's still a nice-looking table. The instructions were similar to those for building the blue and yellow Swedish company furniture, but they were terrible. I'm not going to purchase another.
