The answer to this is not clear to me. This one is protected by a particulate filter so it has a longer life. I have two containers. This one gets plugged up quite quickly by the iron particles.
It is sold as a 2 filter set by us, but I cannot speak for other sellers.
Due to the area we live in, I recently tried the 5 micron filter. It is a fantastic filter and it really enhances our well water by providing a wonderful taste. However, the longer life of the filters is affected by the finer sediment Greg removes during the filtering process.
There is a whole house carbon filter wrapped around this.

There is a whole house filter in our house, but the filters included in it are more expensive and do not seem to work as well as the ones we have. The auto-order feature is great because we know when it is time to change the filter when it is due. Since we get our water from a spring, it is not potable (we need to filter it before drinking). There is a lot less junk in the water since we started using these filters. While I still use a reverse osmosis water filter for drinking water, I'm unable to afford it at this time. It is especially concerning since we found a dead minnow when we changed the Culligan filter the last time! I like it! As a result, the water coming into the house from the shower is much cleaner and I have to clean the shower much less frequently.
There is nothing like the taste of this water. In addition to being durable and easy to replace, they also last a long time. There is a great build quality to these packs, as I purchased several of them. In the future, I will continue to purchase to meet my needs.
I've had great success with these filters. The products removed the chlorine taste from my city water, and I am pleased with their performance. Is a great way to make the water taste better. The carbon coatings on these are very durable. My full carbon filters failed to eliminate chlorine in the past, which was surprising since carbon is the agent that filters chlorine. The filters I purchased have been very effective, and I plan on buying more.
The last time I bought them, I noticed that the quality had declined. I've purchased these filters before and they worked well, but this last time I noticed that the quality has reduced. There are some filters that last a month or longer, and there are others that last little more than a week before needing to be changed. Culligan really needs to stop having these products.
To wire the basement housing under the fridge, I took the time to do it. This will last longer than the small, opaque filter that came with the fridge AND it will allow me to monitor how much water is collected. My experience thus far has been very positive. With that big filter, there is little pressure loss.
Our well works very well with it! It only lasts 2 months instead of the 3 it states it would with well water. It might last 3 months if city water were used. There are minerals in our water that do not form in city water because we have somewhat hard It is so good now that it tastes good!.
Thanks to my extras, I have plenty on hand.
An example of a carbon wrap can be seen here. I find it to be useful and meets my expectations. In terms of flow and longevity, I was looking for a high flow product. The second in a line of three filters, it is located in the center of the row. In the first filter, there is fiber, and the third filter, also carbon, is solid.
