Questions & Answers

What are the approximate dimensions of the object? What are the bag's dimensions?

It measures 5x3 inches and is quite thin.

Because these filters are extra low volume (small), can I use them for 30 days?

We run our distilled water a few times per week, and the filters last a few months. Of course, the amount of nastiness in your water will determine how effective this method is.

What kind of material was used to make the bag?

I placed an order for these and put the bag through its paces. It appears that they are made of cotton or paper. I cut a piece off the side and placed it over the stove's fire, and it just melted away, as cotton fabric does. The bags that came with the Megahome distiller behaved similarly, mostly melting but leaving a slight crispy edge, which was not too bad, so I'm guessing they contain a small amount of poly. I sew, which is how I determine whether a fabric is poly or cotton. I haven't used them yet, but they appear to have less charcoal than the original bags. The machine's instructions said to use two, which I did, but these only say one, so I'll try one when I change them.

Because these filters are extra low volume (small), can I use them for 30 days?

It depends on how frequently you use the machine; I use mine every day, if not twice a day. I have two filters that I change every 20 days or so, for a total of about 30 uses.

This is not a good idea
3/5

The amount of charcoal per bag is tiny, which I already knew from other reviews before purchasing and didn't think was a problem because I could stack a lot of bags. But now that I've received them, I see why this is a problem: I'd have to stack so many that the paper-to-volume ratio would be extremely high, and I'd have to:br>1. There's nothing about this paper that suggests it's healthy in any way because it's a low-cost Made in China product.
2. Water will mostly pass through the paper instead of the charcoal. br>I ended up tossing it out because I don't think the water will be any purer with the filters than it would be without them.
PS: The photo does not reflect the appearance of the paper. On the photo, it appears to be a unique fiber. a piece of paper, or something that might be good for you In reality, it is made of ordinary, low-cost paper.

The best Megahome filters to buy
5/5

For Megahome water distillers, these are the filters to get. They fold in half and fit nicely in the nozzle, allowing water to flow through the filter. The quality of the water has improved noticeably.

This isn't good at all; it taints my water
3/5

Don't waste your money on these; they're a complete waste of money. When I used these, my distilled water started to taste bad. However, I had no idea that these filters were to blame. At first, I assumed that my distiller needed to be cleaned. As a result, I cleaned and cleaned some more. I soaked vinegar in the cooling tube for 24 hours because no amount of cleaning could improve the taste of my water. br>br> Eventually, I came to the conclusion that it was these filters that were causing the problem. So I ordered filters directly from Nutriteam (the company that makes the filters that originally came with the megahome distiller), and Bam, water was once again delicious. It was extremely frustrating for me to try to figure out why my water tasted so bad, and I refused to believe that these filters were to blame. There was no odor or anything, and they simply did not work. Garbage, I'll be tossing the ones I've kept in the garbage can.

These are ideal for use with my water distiller
5/5

I have a water distiller from the "Mophorn" brand. Amazon was also where I got it. Because of the mixed reviews, I was hesitant to purchase charcoal packets for it. This brand appealed to me because it was reasonably priced and did not appear to be as shady as some others. So far, I haven't had any issues. Each charcoal packet is individually wrapped, which may add to the amount of plastic used, but I believe it is a better way to contain any charcoal powder. However, using parchment paper packets could be a better option. It was easy to set up, and one packet fit perfectly in my water distiller. I do fold it in half first, and I plan to buy more of this brand in the future. br>br>(Also, for those who were curious like me - For a water distiller, you'll need charcoal, as V. Because of their small size, Cs (volatile organic compounds) pass through distillation. MTBE, PCE, and Trihalomethane are three of the most common. In the last step, the charcoal captures them.

Small packs that are inexpensive
3/5

Because Amazon was out of my preferred filter brand, I purchased this one. Because they're so small, I have to use three of them in my water distiller. br>It's also bad for the environment because each individual filter is wrapped in plastic.

It was exactly what the doctor ordered
5/5

The included charcoal filters had been used up after about two years of use, and the water had taken on a bitter taste, so I went on the hunt for these guys and ordered them in the hopes that they would work. br>br>I like that they are individually wrapped to prevent them from absorbing odors from the environment while they wait to be used. br>br>The portion size is ideal, and the bitter taste has vanished. br>br>They're exactly what I needed them to be, and I'll definitely order more when we run out.

A little on the small side
4/5

After running out of water in my Megahome water distiller, I decided to try these packets. Perhaps my faucet's water is particularly hard, because I've had to use TWO filters in my nozzle. Every month, I replace my packet(s) and clean my tank at the same time. I used to have both stock and Green Piece filters, but now I only need one of each. They are noticeably smaller after using these (obviously if I could put two of these in the nozzle instead of one of the other brands). I will not buy these again for the same price as others because I used up a "year" supply in 6 months.

I find it to be effective
5/5

These were purchased because the chinese cat water fountain I purchased did not include instructions on how to obtain replacement filters. These don't appear to be related in any way, but they do. They're doing their job, as evidenced by how quickly the water needs to be replaced.
