The weight of a one-dollar bill is precisely one. 0 grams. Set the scale to grams and place a dollar bill on it; the scale will read 1. It's a big deal when the scale reads "0 grams."
With such light weights, it is unreliable. Such scales, in my opinion, have a minimum starting weight that is often higher than the smallest increment. I tossed it and replaced it with one that was more sensitive.
You press the mode button until you find the weight unit you want, then hold it there until it says 00. 00then put your item where you want it. I'm still unsure what the circle with a dot means.
Alternatively, 20 nickels should be equivalent to 100 calibration weight.

If you want it to be precise, you'll have to calibrate it. This scale was purchased to weigh my baby crested geckos because it is said to be extremely accurate. Another didn't go to zero because it wasn't accurate. 01 gram, but only one gram This one is incredible for weighing small reptiles that can be placed in a cup!.
However, this is a complete sham of a product, leading me to believe that the company paid for phony positive reviews. It was calibrated, but it did not accurately weigh the items. After weighing the same weight several times, the results are very inconsistent. There are significant variations. After the third time calibrating it, I thought I had it working, but when I turned it on again, it refused to register any weight. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I had a bad experience here and will be returning.
This is the one I use to measure out my espresso doses, and it's always accurate with just a quick measurement. The unit is small, easy to store, and the display is bright and easy to read. If marijuana is ever legalized in this country, I suppose I'll be able to use it for that as well.
When I need a more precise measurement (milligrams or centigrams), I switch to another scale. I didn't even calibrate the scale, and it turns out it's pretty accurate to a centigram. A photo of the scale with a 10g weight on it was included. The scale weighs that 10g weight within /- of what it should be right out of the box. Precision of 0. 002 g Personally, I find this to be accurate enough for what I require, and it is likely to be accurate enough for the majority of applications. This is, once again, straight from the box. I imagine that if you calibrate it, it will be even more precise. The scale comes in a small box with a small manual that explains what you should and shouldn't do. Instructions for calibration and other matters can be found on the inside of the scale's lid. If you don't need to measure hundredths of a gram 100% accurately, the scale is likely to work right out of the box. I'd recommend purchasing a calibration weight set if you want it to be as precise as possible. This scale requires a 100g calibration weight, which is a relatively inexpensive option. With a price tag of just over $10, this scale is a steal. It is something I strongly suggest.
I'm actually quite dissatisfied with this small scale. It floats away from you. Simply because it wants to, it will go up to 3 grams by itself. That should not be done on any scale, regardless of price. br>br>Following calibration with 20 U. I figured it would be fine with 100 grams of nickels; however, removing one nickel reduces the total to 93. xx is the result of subtracting two nickels from 86. xx. Nickels, by the way, are precisely 5 grams each. This was purchased for the purpose of weighing foods. Supplements for nutrition and bodybuilding, to be precise. Only when I have exactly 100 grams on it does it display the correct weight; otherwise, it is so far off that it's hilarious. br>br>I'll contact the seller to see if a replacement is available, and I'll update the review as necessary. I'm hoping it was just a fluke. EDIT: br>br> I inquired about a replacement with the seller. They informed me that Amazon is in charge of all exchanges and such (which makes sense given that FBA is involved). When I went to the returns page, I couldn't find the "exchange item" option. I double-checked some of my other recent purchases and discovered that they, too, had an exchange option - Some of them didn't, such as this product, which I could only return and couldn't get a replacement for. Too much to deal with, so I just returned it as defective and will be switching to a different brand; my initial impressions of this product, given my limited exposure, remain the same. Other reviews suggest that this small scale is accurate, so as I previously stated, I may have simply received a defective one. This is just my personal opinion about the product and the seller.
The scale is enormous. I've used it about 20 times now and find it to be simple to use and accurate every time; I'm pleased with it. It's impossible to go wrong for $10.
Excellent precision. When measuring weights greater than 1, I compared it to our lab's Sartorius 4 decimal points precision balance (worth tens of thousands of dollars), and this scale is perfectly accurate. 00g. The results appear to always be 0 between 0 and 1 g. 01 g higher than the true value, which is still very good for the money.
I work on a two-point scale. I use it to match weight my arrows, broadheads, and field tips for archery hunting. This product works great because I can set up a little rig to hold the arrow or field tips and zero out the scale with that item on it. This allows me to keep all of my weights consistent.
