The wheels are constructed to last for years to come. They are hefty and sturdy. Reddish orange is the color of the flowers. Compare the red of the bowl in the first picture with the bowl in the second picture. Pepper is placed in the jar with two holes, so that it will pour out during cooking. It takes a lot of shaking to get a lot of salt out of the shaker since it is in the bottom. In addition to not cooking with them, we also don't use them for mixing. It isn't hard to get a lot of salt out of them since they live on our table for meals. Place a lot of salt in the one with two holes, use Morton table salt (or your favorite brand), and you should be able to pour it.
I'm so glad I spent a little extra for them. I want to keep them outside because they are beautiful and they go well with my kitchen. Besides being easy to fill and hold, they are also comfortable to hold. In addition to buying these as a gift, I'd also consider giving them as a gift.
