Questions & Answers
I'm going to say no because these aren't comparable to the old ones if you have a pair. In my opinion, it's more like Walmart junk. They won't last long, in my opinion.
The can opener is not dishwasher safe, according to an OXO representative. None of their can openers can be washed in the dishwasher. I bought a PowerLix can opener from Amazon, and it's dishwasher safe, which I've used several times. If you're looking for a dishwasher-safe can opener, take a look at this one.
I realize this is an old question, but it has come up several times, so I figured I'd answer it in case anyone else is curious. I'm left-handed, and this can opener is easy to use for me. It's fantastic!
I've had one of these since 2004 and it's still going strong. It was all done with ease. Hands down, the best kitchen gadgets. Must-haves include a can opener and vegetable peelers.

For a long time, I've relied on an Oxo can opener. I needed a second can opener, so I ordered an Oxo from Amazon. com, but the cutting head bent over while cutting around the can the second time I used it. It can't be used anymore. It does not appear to be a genuine Oxo. I'll go to Bed Bath & Beyond to get a replacement Oxo. Beyond. A single star is excessive.
First up. I'll tell you a little something about myself. Fibromyalgia is a condition that I suffer from. It makes some mundane tasks more difficult than they need to be. as if they were cans: )br>br>I used to dread making sauce with my old can opener because the large tomato cans hurt my hands a lot. So, I'd do it, but I wouldn't be happy about it, and I might have to postpone a job because I don't want hand cramps or pain. I also couldn't afford to buy a new can opener because I was a cheapskate. br>br>Then my old manual can opener broke, died, or became stuck, and I had to purchase a new one. I looked for a good one and found this one, which was highly rated and reasonably priced, and the reviews indicated that it met my needs. It turned out to be exactly that. br>br> I'm no longer bothered by cans and can tear them apart with ease. This is a fantastic tool.
We went out and bought a new can opener. Garbage. We went out and bought another. It's total nonsense. I went to Amazon in the hopes of finding a suitable replacement for my old Oxo. And then it hit me: Introducing my new Bae! There are a few differences in terms of design: Turner's knob is made of wood and has a hollow interior. The new handles appear to be more water resistant than the originals. (Don't do what I did and put your opener in the dishwasher. ) I recently had carpal tunnel surgery, so opening ANY can was difficult, but not with my new Bae! While not as velvety as my previous one, this one chews through the lids like. . . Basically, a great can opener with razor-sharp blades. FAST. EASY. I placed an order for a second one as a back-up. In 15 years or so, I'll most likely open it. I ADORE THE OXO!.
It won't open any cans, and when I tried to use it to open a can of tomato sauce, it wouldn't open all the way, resulting in tomato sauce all over the place.
horse. It's a sturdy, well-made product. It's well-made and effortlessly plows through anything you throw at it. This isn't the first time I've had it. It finally succumbed after years of service. It was difficult to turn the wheel. However, when I purchased a replacement from a different company, I quickly realized my error. I immediately returned to Oxo to purchase a replacement. This one is so well-made that it will last a long time, and I'm glad I purchased it again. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> We use this opener on a daily basis, and it still looks brand new. It works flawlessly. One tip I learned is to wash it first, then cover it with 1 or 2 layers of paper towel to chew on. It can be cleaned by rolling it through a paper towel. It must be completely dry in order for rust to form.
It was fantastic for as long as it lasted. I loved it because it was so much easier to open cans after my Kitchenaid started killing my hands. That was only for a short time. I tried to open a can a few days ago, and the top was completely mangled, and it wouldn't open completely. The refried bean had to be removed by bending one side of the lid. It worked fine the next time, so I assumed it was a fluke, but it happened again with the next can. It was so bad that the can's top was no longer round. This is something I will not be purchasing again.
This was the first can opener I ever bought. I bought it over two decades ago and had a nervous breakdown when it began to fail in the last six months. I reluctantly placed an order for a replacement. When I discovered that the same model was still available more than two decades later, I was optimistic. Of course, I expected today's version to be a letdown, but it wasn't. It's really fantastic! I'm in a wonderful mood.
As you twist the can open, the handles fall off. Most of the time, it simply pushes the can down rather than cutting it open. I was very dissatisfied with the item's quality. We got one from our local Kroger, and it's fantastic.
