Questions & Answers

This has been described as a rip-off in some reviews. Is it true that some people are getting genuine vinturi, while others are getting knockoffs?

On June 26, 2014, I placed an order for a Vinturi and received a counterfeit Magic Decanter. It had a Vinturi sticker on it, but it was clearly not Vinturi. After trying one at a party, I bought both the red and white Vinturis on 12/31/13. I bought them on Amazon and got the genuine article. This time, I was disappointed to receive a knock-off.

Is it possible to put it in a bottle?

That isn't the way it works. Pour wine through the aerator while holding it over the glass for instant aeration. In the right amount of time, a proper amount of air is mixed.

Is it normal for wine to leak from the two holes that are 180 degrees apart?

No, and if it's leaking, you're not properly holding it. Those two holes act as capillaries, drawing air into the wine and mixing it with it to aerate it as you pour. As a result of the Venturi principle experiment that we did in Physics classes, the name Vinturi was coined. I got mine in Co$tc0 for $15, and it's a fantastic product.

Which wine should you buy if you only have enough money to buy one but want to drink both red and white?

Please don't do it! It is for sales that Vinturi markets the fact that there is a difference in the amount of air delivered by the red and white aerators. To improve people's moods. Next - They'll have adjustable air holes so you can 'tune' your aerator to the type of wine you're drinking. However, you could aerate the first half of the glass before pouring straight wine into the second; Make your own adjustments. To respond to your query: The majority of people do not aerate whites, but if you want to, go ahead and do so. Choose a color that appeals to you the most. Wine was previously aerated in a glass or a decanter until this "invention." Vinturi, on the other hand, has a decanter with an aerator. What's the big deal about that? Red wines stain, so I prefer the black one. The color red seeps through the cracks in the fabric. Best of luck, and cheers to the wine.

Fold Lines are not Cracks, so it works perfectly
5/5

The product functions well, but there is some confusion about what appear to be cracks in the product, so I emailed the manufacturer for clarification. br>br>Here's what they had to say: A fold line appears above each air hole as a result of the manufacturing process, which is frequently misinterpreted as a crack. I've attached a photo of the fold lines. br>br>The lines in their promo video can be found on their website. br>br>You'd think they'd say something about it in their Amazon marketing.

A five-star product with a one-star customer service rating equals a one-star review
3/5

On August 14, 2019, I sent the following email to Vinturi support: br>"I recently purchased a brand new Vinturi V1010 (attachment 1) from Amazon Inc (sold and shipped directly by Amazon, not a 3rd party seller), and I have a question about it. I noticed a small plastic tab intruding into the Vinturi's throat after unpacking it (see attachment 2), and I was wondering if this was normal. It's right above one of the venturi ports in the throat, which strikes me as odd because I'd expect it to obstruct the smooth flow of wine through the throat in some way. I tried to dislodge the tab by running water through the Vinturi, but it didn't work. Could you please respond and tell me if this plastic tab is supposed to be there or if it is a manufacturing defect?"br>br>I did not receive a response. So after a week, I gave them a call. They told me that nothing was wrong and that this plastic tab was supposed to be there after a long discussion and review of the photos. I told them it looked like leftover plastic from when one of the air vents was installed, and if that was the case, I'd like to replace it with a new unit. I requested that they take a unit from their inventory and look down the throat to see if this plastic shard was present. They assured me that I didn't need to worry because everything was fine. Huh? Okay, but something about this didn't sit right with me. I noticed that the device works, but one of the holes drips wine. I figured it was just a matter of getting used to my new technique, and I'd figure it out eventually. br>Since then, I've noticed that when wine is poured through the small air hole opposite where this tab is located, it constantly leaks. I've tried everything and still can't get that air vent to stop leaking wine down the outside of the device (the other vent works fine). This has made me disgusted with the device and the mess it makes, so I've gone back to using traditional decanting techniques. br>Well, today, 7/29/2020, I was at my neighbors house and what did I see? He, too, possesses a VinVinturi! As a result, I requested permission to examine it. Let me tell you something. His VinVinturi does not have the "usual" plastic shard protruding from the venturi's throat! I asked if I could try his VinVinturi, and he graciously agreed. What's more, guess what? His device does not leak fluid through either of the vent holes (I tested it 12 times, using the equivalent of 12 wine bottles of water each time). br>So, when I got home this afternoon, after getting over my rage at Vinturi and this stupid device, I carefully pressed on this stupid plastic tab until it broke off and was flushed out of the device, and lo and behold, my leaky VinVinturi now works just as well as my neighbors. It appears that this stupid little shard of plastic was interfering with the venturi throat, allowing wine to flow freely out of one of the vent holes. The plastic shard has been removed, the issue has been resolved, and my VinVinturi now functions as it should after more than a year. I remember asking your customer service representatives if I should do this, and they told me no, "never insert any objects into the VinVinturi's throat. " "Well, this is the same person who told me the plastic shard in photo 2 was "normal. " So, am I bothered by the fact that the product had a manufacturing flaw? No, I'm not. Things like this are a byproduct of modern mass production techniques, though it should have been caught by the factory's quality control department in the first place. BUT I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WAY CUSTOMER SUPPORT WAS HANDLED, INCLUDING Vinturi's incompetence and insistence that "nothing is wrong with your product sir" and "no, we cannot offer you an exchange because what you describe is normal. " Yes, it is NOT NORMAL, as you would have noticed if you had looked at a VinVinturi for yourself and compared your product to my photo 2. br>Nice product, VinVinturi, but, in my opinion, dreadful customer service. I recommend that you concentrate your efforts on hiring better customer service representatives, giving them proper product training, and possibly monitoring how they perform their jobs to ensure that they are properly representing your products and company. Instead, I paid full price for a working product, but had to research the problem FOR YOU and repair the customer's problem MYSELF. br>If your support person had told me, "yes, that does not seem right," I would have asked for a return while my return window was still open. br>Instead, I paid full price for a working product, but had to research the problem FOR YOU and repair the customer's problem MYSELF. What a great deal.

Not at all useful
3/5

This is more of a show-stopper than a practical item. My husband enjoys wine, but he isn't a connoisseur, so I bought it for him. We used to play a game where I would fill two glasses of wine, one with aerated wine and the other without. He'd have to try both and figure out which was the aerated one. He had a hard time distinguishing between the two, and he guessed incorrectly the majority of the time. Then, when my in-laws moved in, he had a hard time distinguishing between the two. When the laws arrived, who consider themselves wine connoisseurs, they were stumped. They did appear to guess correctly more often, but the difference was not significant, according to them. It now serves only as a party trick in our cabinet.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USER: THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT IS DONE! There will be no messes
5/5

The Vinturi Aerator produces a distinctive sound when used correctly. br>br>Test br>br>br>br>br>br>b Hold the Vinturi Aerator under a running tap or faucet for practice. Just enough to keep the water from dripping over the edge. => LISTEN. To get a feel for how to maximize the aeration sound, tilt it slightly (in any direction). When pouring wine through the device, you should hear a sucking sound, which indicates that air is being drawn in through the side holes (and that nothing is leaking out). Instructions for Pouring Wine: br>br> Hold the Vinturi Aerator in one hand and the wine bottle in the other. br>Tilt the Vinturi Aerator slightly TOWARDS the bottle (do not tilt it away from the bottle). Just a smidgeon of a smidgeon of a smidgeon of a smidge br>Then pour the wine so that it hits the Aerator's opposing wall (the side that is furthest away from the bottle). br>DO NOT POUR SLOWLY AND DO NOT AIM FOR THE CENTER. br>br>Pour at a regular pace. It is necessary to maintain a certain level of wine volume and flow rate. Simply pour as you would normally. br>Pay attention to THAT SOUND. br>br>If you follow these steps, you'll be a Vinturi Master in no time. You've gotten maximum aeration with no leaks or messes. br>br>Because I pour my wine in the kitchen, I rinse it with water after each use and store it in the sink's dish rack. br>Extremely zippy, plenty of aeration, and no mess.

The flavor isn't affected much
3/5

I'm a cheap wine drinker who doesn't have a lot of patience for decanting wine, so I bought this based on the reviews, and I'm skeptical of the majority of the other rave reviews. My family conducts taste tests on various brands of frozen fruits and vegetables on a regular basis to see if we can identify the 'high quality' item. With this item, that is entirely unnecessary: It has had no effect on the flavor of my boxed Malbec (which, for those of you who are scoffing, is made with organic grapes). Pouring it through the Vinturi several times also doesn't help much. br>br>In order to tame the tannins and pull the wine, I prefer to blend it for 30 seconds. I don't have a decanter, but blending it is far superior to drinking it straight from the bottle or allowing it to aerate for half an hour in a glass. br>br>If that doesn't work, try blending a glass of wine for a second (it will produce more than the effect this item will) and see if that works. Compare the results of different blending times. I wish I had the opportunity to return it to you.
