It is much simpler and safer to use the Boston style shakers than the traditional 3 piece ones. It is a huge plus that the shakers do not leak at all. Since they are made of metal, they do get quite cold, but it is easily resolved by using a In comparison to other hawthorne strainers in this price range, the coil of the included strainer is much tighter (which allows it to function, rather than the really open springed strainers). This set included a jigger bar spoon and spout, which was a nice addition since most people who are just starting their home bars are likely to need them anyway. Considering the price, the quality is quite good.
