The seal appeared to be adequate when I used it with a bigger stainless steel tin. After using it for a while, I stopped using it because the workmanship on two tins was different.
There are actually several small spots of rust inside that are not easy to remove where the bottom meets the sides, apparently due to the moisture that didn't evaporate well enough.
