This is not a genuine flour sack cloth
3/5

If it were possible, I would give this product 0 stars. These are NOT authentic flour sack cloths. They are white and square, which is the only thing they have in common with real flour sack cloth. To be polite, referring to them as "vintage" is insulting. factual. The cloth has a unique weave to it. They have a crisp feel to them and aren't as soft and buttery as real flour sack cloth. I washed one three times to see how it would hold up and if it had any sizing issues. There was no thinning of the skin. It is not authentic.

Despite the fact that these towels are thick and sturdy enough to embellish or embroider without first washing them, I have been disappointed with their intended performance. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes I've used a lot of kitchen towels over the years: I've ordered multiple flour sack towels from Amazon, as well as the cheaper Williams Sonoma varieties. The bottom line: do they dry thoroughly without leaving any residue? Do they wash and dry well, and do they hang dry well between hand washings? Oh, and aren't they lovely to embellish with? But that's really the least important consideration for me, because it doesn't matter how pretty a kitchen towel is if it's not functional. br>br>I used to order a different brand of flour sack towels from Amazon on a regular basis, and they were fantastic. They're still in use in my (and other people's) kitchens, but I couldn't find any more when I went looking for them. They weren't going to be able to help us because they weren't available. I rolled the dice and took a chance because the photos from Aunti Em's looked eerily familiar. BUT. To compare, I purchased flour sack towels from a different manufacturer. br>br>While the ease of sewing (not overly wrinkly or laden with lint) appealed to me, I was disappointed when I tried them out in my kitchen. Remember, I'm comparing them to my old flour sack towels and the other brand I ordered (which I've also reviewed on Amazon). br>br>These are machine washable and dryable. I didn't have to iron them before sewing because they sewed beautifully. However, as I began to use them, I became aware of their limitations. Between hand washings, these dry very slowly, so when we need to dry a glass or plate, we are met with a damp towel. We toss it in the laundry basket and replace it with a fresh, dry towel. This does not happen with the other flour sack towels we have, and I am not exaggerating when it comes to drying time - It's going to take HOURS. br>br>Isn't she lovely? Yes. Is it completely usable? In our house, no such thing exists. We wash our hands frequently and wash certain glasses by hand (which requires a hand towel to dry), so not only was I disappointed with the performance, but so were others in my household.

My new go-to when it comes to crafting
5/5

These are what I use to make HTV towel designs. I bought Walmart's flour sack towels, which were extremely thin, poorly stitched, and wrinkled. Based on the reviews, I decided to give these a try, and they are absolutely fantastic. It's still thin, but with a much thicker weave, even stitching, and a back loop for hanging. From now on, I'll only purchase this brand! For the quality, the slightly higher price per towel than Walmart is well worth it.

I was let down
3/5

I recently received these and was dissatisfied with them. They have a small hem and are very thin. I've previously purchased Utopia products and found them to be excellent. The Utopia brand is soft and has a large hem. They're not as stiff or prone to wrinkles as other materials. I'm not affiliated with Utopia in any way. All I wanted to do was share my knowledge. These towels have been washed and are now being stored. Now I must make a different purchase in order to obtain a better towel.

Flour Sack Towels of the highest quality
5/5

I bought these with the intention of adding machine embroidery designs to make gifts. I bought 12 flour sack cloths for about $1 each at Walmart during the Christmas season. Those were extremely wrinkled, asymmetrically square, only hemmed on two sides, and extremely thin. br>I came across these Aunti Em's towels on Amazon and decided to give them a try, despite the fact that they were only $2 each. It was well worth the money! br>These towels are made of a heavier weight fabric with very neat hems on all four sides and a twill tape across one corner for drying. br>Today, I machine embroidered one, and the fabric was crisp and easy to work with, making it ideal for machine embroidery. When I sprayed starch on an unwashed towel, I noticed that the liquid beaded up. After being washed, I anticipate them becoming absorbent. I also discovered that the fabric's minor wrinkles are impossible to remove with an iron. These small wrinkles seemed to give the fabric more texture and character while still maintaining a neat appearance. I've attached a photo with the color adjusted to hopefully show the wrinkle/texture of the white fabric (I added the embroidery [design by Embroidery Library] and fabric panel because this towel package only sells blank white towels). br>When I'm ready for more, I'll definitely buy these again. They are fantastic.

Vintage Flour Sack Kitchen Towels from Auntie Em's Kitchen
3/5

These towels are well-made and extremely light. At first, I was overjoyed to receive a "bakers dozen" in the mail! However, no matter how many times I wash them, they do not absorb water. When drying dishes, the water beads up and smears around. I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets on any of my towels because I know they can reduce absorbency, so it had to be a flaw in the fabric. They aren't something I would buy again.

Not a lot of absorbency
3/5

These are appealing to the eye and will clean up easily. So far, they have remained stain-free. In my kitchen, stains are a major issue. Embroidering these as decorative towels is a great idea. However, as far as utilitarian towels go, these aren't the best; the absorbency hasn't increased no matter how many times I've washed them. Liquids are simply pushed around by them.

It had a positive impact on my life
4/5

For my project (iron-on), these were ideal. pressed on vinyl) I had to prepare ahead of time. I would recommend washing them first, and be prepared to iron them because they wrinkle a lot and I folded them right after they came out of the dryer. Fabric softener was not used because it is not recommended before using iron-on sheets. on vinyl. I have not used them to clean anything, so I cannot comment on their absorbency.
