Also just in time, since my organic store was out of compostable bags that day and did not have any to offer. Among the foods I packed in muslin bags were celery, brussel sprouts, fruit, tomatoes, lettuce, and lettuce leaves. The bag of portobello mushrooms was stored in my fridge for a few days after I bought them. All bags did not stain, so I gave it a 4 out of 5. They are still new to me, so I haven't used them extensively yet. What about durability? I'm happy with the way things are going so far. It will be interesting to see what happens. I am very pleased with the quality, and they're quite affordable as well! Likewise, I got some for our kid in college.
A very solid and well-made product! There are no loose seams, and the threading is strong. Pullstrings with a solid feel. It can be easily washed. I have not experienced shrinkage, but only handwashed with dish soap and hung it to dry over the sink (okay, maybe that's what I do). As for sprouting, I have been using these as well, and they hold up equally well as the more expensive "sprouting bags" made from The sprouts in all 3 sizes have grown. It seems like I could get more sprouts from the larger seed size with the same amount of seed (1/4 cup), however I have been using very old seed, so results may not be accurate. I am awaiting delivery of my new seed so I can continue my research.
As for other non-profits, I will still try to track some down The plastic bags I use to keep produce fresh in the refrigerator for a long time.
I found them pretty decent when it came to making but they didn't keep produce fresh for very long Actually, I have found mold on vegetables when using plastic produce bags with paper towel tucked inside them, but I have not seen it when I used plastic produce bags with paper towel. They will not be used for produce any longer. Most likely will use them for shoe bags for traveling and other things.
It surprised me how thick they were. In fact, I'm likely to get another set so I can bag everything twice. They are used to store potatoes, onions, and garlic for me. The vegetables seem to be getting too much sunlight.
I don't use plastic bags or plastic containers to keep paper towels. I found that just putting them in the crisper of the fridge didn't work.
There are a variety of sizes available. To store fresh vegetables and greens in my fridge, I use these bins. It is very handy, and it keeps everything fresh for a long time.
My bag is nice, but it is a bit thinner than I anticipated. However, for the price you pay, they are a great deal.
