The shelves became apparent to me while I was searching for another item. After measuring and imagining, I realized that these shelves could make my kitchen more functional, as they would make use of the space above dishes, glasses, etc. Initially, I felt that two short shelves and one longer would help more space in the dishes, glassware, and casserole cupboards. It is packed. Decided to buy the 6-inch version since it was cheaper It's cheaper to buy individual shelves than to buy packs. The first time I received 12 shelves, I was unsure of what to do with them. However, by the time I received them, I had found places to put all but one! It fits perfectly inside both the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and is strong enough to hold several plates, bowls, or casseroles at once. In a storage cupboard, I put 2 of them on open shelving (no sides or backs to the shelves), and I have to be careful that they may fall off the shelves if they're left open. However, other than that, I am 100% in favor.

I like the size as described, so I am pleased with that. There is a lot of wire spacing in this item, which leaves items on top wobbling a bit.
