So I have a story to tell. As I near my 60s, I have a lot to think about. As a child, I was fortunate to have a neighbor who had come west in a covered wagon when she was just eight years old. We used to eat her homemade "raised sugar cookies" whenever we visited her. It was the first time I'd ever enjoyed anything like them. The recipe for these cookies has never been provided on Pinterest, despite how much I love it. Since I was a child, I tried everything Everything was nowhere near what was near. It didn't matter if it was yeast or buttermilk. as my sister and I were conversing last week about Mauney and her wonderful cookies, I realized what had happened. Sourdough, yee haw! Perfect! It all made sense to me! In the early days, there was no packaged yeast- they used sourdough instead. My sister was talking with me when I began looking at Pinterest and found sourdough sugar cookies recipes. My search continued and I came across many recipes for sourdough starter (there are many). These jars I bought on Amazon are helping me create my starter, and today, my third day, the process is going well. Including a few recipes in my daughter's second jar, I plan to give her sourdough starter as a gift. It will be sourdough sugar cookies that are most important.
a typical email asking how I think the product is. I replied that I like the jars, but the bands are way too big and are not useful, and that the cloth is small and stiff in comparison. It was removed from the return email I got a response saying 'Sorry the bands didn't fit perfectly'. As for the bands, they did not fit perfectly they were way too wide and could not be worn. Up until the time I received that terse response, I was happy with the product. It was the only time that they addressed my comment regarding I think you can find a better deal at Walmart. Despite my disagreement, the seller sent me another jar and two more bands with cloth in a successful attempt to make me happy. The product could, however, be significantly improved by providing better-fitting bands, as well as larger cloths. I do appreciate the effort, but I feel as though it might be better if the cloths were larger. However, I do appreciate the effort they put forth.
I am pretty new to fermentation, but I have recently been bitten by the bug and I am getting pretty excited about a jar. Therefore, in a very short amount of time I've managed to amass quite a nice collection of glass jars and bottles. The plastic screw tops of this gallon size are just perfect for this. In one of them, I have broccoli and in the other, cauliflower, both of which are coming along nicely, and once a day I taste and check them to see how they're doing. Despite the fact that the tops can be tightly screwed on if you want to, and that they are completely leak-proof To make sure the lids fit snugly, I'm only squeezing them a little bit to let any gas that may have built up escape. Eventually I may buy bubblers and install them on the lids, but for now they are perfect the way they are, and they work just fine for what I need them for. My plan is to purchase a couple more to use for making kimchi, and I like the fact that they are sold in pairs, so I can use one to make a new batch of whatever I'm making while another one is already finished being made and You can also pour boiling water right into them immediately after they've been removed from the stove to sterilize them before you wash them. They won't crack like they used to. Inside, each received a muslin cloth with a rubber band to secure it. Simply fold the cloth over the rubber band and secure, then fold it back up. In the end, I still had use for it. As you might expect, the cloth is intended to cover your jar while your kefir (or kombucha) ferments, to prevent flies from getting in, and each piece of cloth is large enough for that with the included rubber band being just the right length for that. As I use up the various kinds of items and combinations I have already made, and of course as I start preparing more batches, I will likely need at least two if not four more jars, depending on the size and shape of the rest of the batch I have already made. It's wonderful to have these jars, and I'd like to have a few more of them. This is a very highly recommended book.
The maker of these items isn't directly stated on the website. There is a mark on the bottom of the jar that reads "A-" It is marked with the Arkansas Glass Corporation manufacture number 4128. These containers seem heavy duty and are perfect for making Kombucha. EDITOR'S NOTE The muslin sacks work perfectly (just double the rubber band so they're tight, but the rubber band works perfectly). I used them today to make two separate batches of kombucha. Water can be boiled in the glass without it breaking. Though I probably didn't need to do so, I sanitized the jars beforehand.
These jars have each been used once in my home. I kept both clean when I got them, but broke one when I washed it again. Although I was very careful, I did not use hot water. I only used lightly warmed water and I barely touched it on my sink before it broke. I used the other one for a second time and washed it for a third time. I have no idea what happened to it, but it was drying and I was going to brew a new batch when it crashed to the ground. The quality of the product is horrible and it's not worth the price if I can only use them once or twice. Since I have owned other gallon jars for years, there has been no problem. The quality of these cds was poor when I bought them on sale last year.
These are used so far to store flour and sugar and have served their purposes I would buy these exact containers if I could find them in a half gallon size for pasta and other pantry goods.
This pack contains two units. The 1 gallon glass jar comes with a plastic airtight cap. The item was received quickly and in a satisfactory condition. Made hot tea and kombucha with ease using this sturdy, heavy glass container. It is a great product! Thanks a lot!.
used to have the plastic versions of these jars, but I threw them out once I got the glass ones. My concern with food in plastic containers has always been a concern, and I am always looking for glass alternatives at a reasonable price. I thought these would be smaller, but they have a lot more room than I anticipated. It would be great if I could reduce the amount of plastic I use!.
