In order to make a grill cheese or whatever, I use 2 full slices of bread. There doesn't appear to be any meat in the pockets, just grilled cheese or grilled ham and cheese... this seems to be close to the original normal sized pockets. Cutting off the bread crust is not necessary, but you can do it. Although the cheese oozes out no matter how many slices you use, you'll notice that this is probably because you don't take care to make sure it's going to be sealed inside. Just note that this will make only ONE - slice! The sandwich is made up of two triangles. You might consider buying one with four triangles so you can make two sandwiches if you're going to buy for a family of 2 or more. Hopefully, your decision will prove to be a wise one.
