Oster Digital Air Fryer Oven with RapidCrisp, Stainless Steel, 12-Function Countertop Oven with Convection

There is only a weird smell the first few times I use it, after that, there is no more weird smell after using it. I do have some concerns, however, which makes me unable to decide whether to give this product a 3 or a 4 star rating. 1) The cord is painfully short and only has two prongs. As it stands, it is flimsy and does not appear to be built to generate the amount of current this oven draws. It's a pain in the buttocks to use the timer, 2) Until the 30 minute mark, there is a one minute increase, and then there is a five minute increase after that. In other words, if you wish to do 37 minutes, this cannot be accomplished. As well, if you want to add more time, it always rounds to the next full minute at first. Plus, it cannot be set beyond 90 minutes for the baking setting. The downside is that you are forced to enter a time after your input. That means you can't enter a time for something that takes two hours. Setting the timer for 90 seconds is the best thing you can do, came back after it rings and set for another 30 seconds. I think it is an absurd thing to skimp on a tiny bit of programming needed to make a decent timer among all the things they should not. Three) The instructions would benefit from some improvement. The diagram did not show me where the crumb tray went, so I put it above the heating element, thinking it was there to prevent things from falling on the coils and burning. This was incorrect, and nowhere does it say where exactly the crumb tray is located (it is under the heating element at the bottom, so good luck trying to get it out without spilling over all the crumbs while you are doing it). This is how the crumb tray looked after my first attempt to use the oven. You can see the picture how badly the heating element burned the crumb tray. Customer service never replied to my email, so I contacted The glass door sure gets hot. 4) Yikes, it gets really hot. My fingers have burned twice now on the backs of my hands when I misstepped off the handle and accidentally touched the glass with them. I know toaster ovens get hot, but since this is so close to the handle, it can be very easy to touch. fact, the whole front of the oven gets so hot that I was unable to touch the timer buttons when I tried to increase the baking time. Over the long haul, I cannot imagine that being very beneficial to electronic components. It will take time to determine what will happen. Despite its shortcomings, I really do love this device enough to overlook them, but the difference between a 3 and a 4 is extremely close.

The gasket on the doors becomes softer when it gets hot, and bubbles during use. It does seem to occur with every use, but I am not sure it is intended.

I'm very pleased with the result. Wires are run up to the small size of this device until the cable is run. Are you sure that 16AWG will be enough There is no way that's true. Overheating of the cord causes the outlet to overheat at the same time. The most expensive item skimped on. You think you're getting quality for $160, but it's on the simplest of things.

However, it seems to be pulling quite a bit of power. One of the screws on mine was loose. As a newbie, I had never heard of air frying before, but my mother is so passionate about it that she owns three of them. The real reason I got this one was because I was new and unsure about what I could and could not fried. The first thing I noticed about mine is that there was a screw just out of the machine and inside. That was a bit confusing, but I knew it went in the door. While I'm getting used to the machine, I use the thermometer when I try new things or raw ingredients. As a result of jostling, I chalked it up to an accident. There is no need to worry about using a fryer with so much ease. There was a booklet inside with recipes and times. I read through it. I find the interface to be extremely user-friendly. The turn knob allows the user to set a preset, the light turns on and off, a cancel and start button is present, and a temperature control is available. It is easy enough for kids to use if they're taught how to do it. However, it seems to eat a lot in terms of energy. My air fryer tripped the breaker when I plugged an air fryer into a deep fryer that was plugged in. I can't seem to run anything else on the outlet without tripping it. On its own it doesn't do it, but when I use the outlet or breaker for anything else it does. This is something I have to research, and I think it has more to do with how the wiring in my place was setup. He lives there in an old house. In the end, I'm very happy with how things There is always an outer layer that is crispy when I use this microwave, and an inner layer that is soft. I get crisp pickles, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fries, and any other food I might microwave. It even does raw to cooked fries with ease. I love the way that it goes from cool to hot, so when I'm doing fries I can start at a lower temperature and then turn the heat up to make them crisp when they're done. I love it and it would look great in any kitchen, but it shows every fingerprint and scuff that goes on it. I've never been able to keep it looking clean, no matter how carefully I wash it. My favorite part of this oven is the RapidCrisp technology. Cooks the food crisp on the outside but remains soft on the inside, therefore reducing the cooking time. This recipe is best served for two or three people however, it is large enough for a family. We would have liked to have had the option of purchasing an additional wire basket and a rack to give us more cooking space. I have used the air fry, toast, and bake functions, and have been pleased with all of *I'm not even sure I would use all of the other settings, but I suppose it would be handy to have them. **Cleaning is pretty simple because the crumb tray and racks are With the light feature (stays on for a minute when you press it), and makes it easier to clean, I love it. This fits nicely in the corner on my counter, and since it can't be used under the cabinet, I will slide it out a little when I cook with it. Several people have stated that the doors and sides get hot, and they do, but I find that regardless of how I pay attention to what I am doing, I'm not bothered. Has a bit of noise, but it's worth it in the end. On the whole, I am very happy with my purchase and I purchased a second one for my sister. Both of them are happy with theirs. If you compare this price to other air fryers or combo ovens, it is a very good price for the functionality.
