Questions & Answers

What's the smallest amount of oil you can use?

Inside the pan that holds the oil, there are two marks between "low" and "high." 2 liters or 5 liters 64 quarts of liquid. br>With the basket in the up position, you don't want your food sitting in oil, so fill until the oil level is just beneath the basket.

What exactly are the basket's dimensions?

It's actually closer to 8. 5 X 6. 5 X 2.

Has anyone ever measured the oil's maximum temperature? What is the current temperature?

I got 345 when the value was set to 375. Not in the least bit pleased.

Is the electrical cord polarized or magnetized? Is it a standard power cord, or is it something else entirely?

It's just a regular plug, nothing special. It really works.

I recently purchased this fryer from Amazon and am experiencing temperature issues
3/5

I'm pleased with it overall. The temperature is the only thing that disappoints me. To check the temperature of the deep fryer, I use a high-quality, calibrated thermometer. There's a 20-percentage-point difference between the two. The temperature is 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The actual oil temperature is 330°F when the fryer is set to 350°F. The oil only reaches 345 degrees when I turn the fryer up to 375 degrees. As a result, the higher I raise it, the less precise the fryer temperature becomes. This is my third fryer, and they're all out of whack in terms of temperature, with this one being the least accurate. I'd return it and get a new one, but I'm afraid I'll run into the same issue. I wish I could get a more accurate one. It is, in my opinion, a critical feature of this apparatus. I'm at a loss for ideas. br>br>I just removed one star from my review. Presto and I just finished an email conversation. You better hope you don't have any problems with one of their fryers because they just ignored me.

Don't squander your time or money on this
3/5

What a waste of money, I returned this item. When I first tried to use it after filling it with oil, it would not even turn on. As a result, we had to break out the cast iron skillet to prepare our fish and fries. The next day, I called presto, and she walked me through all kinds of troubleshooting, but it still wouldn't turn on. I followed her advice and returned. When I called Amazon, they were wonderful. They had a UPS driver come to my house to pick up the package, and they brought their own label and refunded me the next day. I've since purchased a different brand of deep fryer and will keep you updated on how it performs.

Except for the French Fries, I'd give it a five
4/5

Except for the lid, I'm pleased with the fryer. The cover cannot be used while frying french fries or other high-moisture foods, according to the instructions. What the hell is going on here? Because everything we cook contains a lot of moisture, we end up with grease all over the place because we can't cover it. We'll have to get a screen to cover the fryer now, I guess.

As good as Ivar's in Seattle when it comes to fish and chips
5/5

A deep fryer with basket, similar to this one, was one of the things we had as kids. Since then, some enhancements have been made, such as the removal of the heating element, which makes cleaning easier while allowing for extremely efficient heat transfer. br>Considering how short the cord is anyway, I believe the magnetic attachment for the cord in the back of the unit is perhaps unnecessary. I've discovered that the cord can easily be pulled out of the socket in the back of the fryer, as intended by the designer. br>The temperature control is simple to use and read. During the cooking process, the temperature remains relatively constant. After draining the oil, the basket's foldable handles may come in handy for storage. I simply set everything up on the counter and leave it there. The cooking tank is separated from the outside walls by an air gap, which keeps the outside surface cool to the touch. br>After several months of use, I have had no issues with the Pro Fry and am glad I purchased it.

My least favorite five There has never been a five-star review

Before you go out and buy something, make sure you read it first. I'm not a fan of the'star system,' and this gifted-but-famous-but-famous-but-famous-but-fam but- flawed- yet- in the end Presto's redeemable Deep Fryer is an excellent example. br>br>Many other reviewers have stated that this unit will not heat oil above 330 degrees, despite the fact that the knob is set to 375 degrees. Thousands of pounds were taken from them by an unscrupulous technician who convinced them to change the knobs on their amplifiers so they could 'turn up to eleven.
