I didn't get the larger one, but I imagine you'll need more than 1 liter of oil to fill it.

Thermometer is not working correctly

I bought three of these units and had to return them all because of the same issue. The thermometer was not functioning properly. After that, I got an email from Amazon advertising a new and improved fryer. I tried it and thought it was a nicer unit with no sharp edges, but the thermometer didn't work for the fourth time. Someone should inspect these units to check the thermometers, as they appear to be all defective, as they will not rise above 90 degrees no matter how hot the oil is. I didn't return it because returning them was becoming an embarrassment. I bought a new thermometer and modified it to fit the pot by trial and error. I strongly advise against purchasing this product until the issue is resolved.
