Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. This Hamilton Beach appliance has a 15 amp rated amperage.
I wouldn't call the lid airtight, but nothing has gotten into the fryer so far. Because I use my fryer so frequently, I have to change the oil (canola) every two months or so.
As long as the element is protected from the elements. You ought to be fine. 😁

br>br>The dial is set to 375 degrees Fahrenheit - I seriously doubt it will be able to accomplish this. I cooked the twelve chicken wing segments in the fry for nearly 20 minutes, and they were only a pale golden brown. Other fryers I've owned have cooked more wings in half the time. br>br>The power cord should be at least a few inches longer - Because the cord is so short, the fryer must be placed very close to a wall socket. Because of the length, the fryer cannot be pulled out from under cabinets. br>br>The fryer can only be used for 60 minutes out of a total of 120 minutes (as stated in the manual). When we make fries or chicken, we use the double fry method, which involves first frying at a lower temperature, then removing the food, heating the fryer to a higher temperature, and frying again to finish the cooking. When you factor in the time it takes to heat up and cool down between batches, the cooking window isn't very large. I was attempting to finish cooking the wings when the fryer shut down on its own - The timer did not come back on after being reset.
This item was recently delivered to me and was damaged. It also lacks the two basket desk baskets as well as handles. There were also instructions for another product inside, as well as two extra random parts. I'm in such a bad mood that I don't know what to do.
So far, the fryer has performed admirably. I wanted to use it primarily for making chicken wings. Because we eat a lot of chicken wings, I usually use a turkey deep fryer, but I don't like frying all the time outside, so I was hoping this would work. So I'm writing this review because I couldn't come up with a good estimate for how many pounds of wings it could hold. So, using the photos as a guide, I put a 4 pound bag of wings in the basket and fried them at 375 degrees. So first put them in, then after about 2 minutes pick up the basket and move the wings around because they stick, then return them to the oven with the lid on for about 25 minutes because I like my wings crispy, and they're done. After the first batch of wings, I added a 2 pound bag of fries and cooked them for about 10 to 15 minutes. I hope this information is useful to someone.
Well- BIG and well-designed. For years, I've relied on a high-end Italian deep fryer. Because the old one had a design flaw, I decided to replace it with this one. Because it was so short, the oil nearly always overflowed when I used it, resulting in a filthy unit. The Hamilton Beach deep fryer is a large and deep fryer. I can make two batches of french fries without the oil bubbling up and overflowing. Despite the HB model's large size, the oil appears to heat up quickly. Because the timer shuts down the unit, you can't use it to time your cooking. If you want to, say, pre-set an alarm, you'll need a separate timer. Cook your fries for 8 minutes before returning them to the hot oil to crisp up the last bit. (The best way to make perfect fries is to do it this way. ) ) I have no reservations in recommending this deep fryer.
It was only the clicking sound of the countdown that alerted me that the countdown had begun. I also purchased asurian protection, but I am unable to return it. br>br>My mother previously purchased one of these for my baby shower. It was ineffective as well. I would not have purchased it if I had known. It was supposed to make cooking easier, but it ended up wasting my time, so I need to return it and get my money back so I can buy something else.
I took temperatures on both and they were significantly higher than the dialed temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit. I was able to fry two half chickens with only a slight drop in temperature, and they both recovered in a matter of minutes. The half chickens, as well as the fries, were crispy and delicious. I deducted one star because the basket is quite flimsy, and I have the impression that I could flatten it in my hand with moderate force if I so desired. The outside frame is also made of fairly thin stainless steel, but this had no effect on the unit's operation. However, because the fryer's cord is only about 2 feet long, do yourself a favor and order a 5 foot medium duty extension cable to avoid the hassle. They're even available for purchase on Amazon here in the United States. I'm not sure how long these will last because I've only used them once, but if they last a year, I'd say I got my money's worth, considering a half chicken dinner at Hofbräuhaus with beer costs around $75 for two people.
This was exactly what I needed. When I tried to use it for the first time, it didn't work right away. The timer goes off, but it doesn't turn on! So now I'm short on both time and fryer oil!.
I have everything, including an extra power cord, but my basket has no handle, so I can't even use it, and I waited weeks for it to arrive.
