Selected User Reviews For Oneida True Rose 5 Piece Everyday Flatware Serving Set
I would have been pleased if I had received a set similar to the one pictured in the listing. I, on the other hand, did not, so I am not. br>br>The set I received has a "Vietnam 127" stamp on it, which does not match the "Oneida" image. The rose pattern is identical, but the pieces are extremely gleaming, and the oxidation on the details is missing. The meat fork in the picture has three tines, but the one I got looks more like a giant salad fork. The pierced spoon in the picture has a nice balanced pattern of 5 holes; the one I received has 5 holes as well, but they are oddly shaped and placed (I was going to include a picture, but my own reflection obscured the detail). br>br>I chose the seller "The Oneida Group" on purpose, hoping to get genuine Oneida rather than a knockoff. Perhaps this is the real deal, and Oneida is simply selling a subpar product and cutting corners by not oxidizing the pattern details. However, if this is the case, graphics that are current and accurate should be used. br>br>My one-star rating reflects my dissatisfaction with the misleading advertising. This set would be nice enough if I didn't need to match an old set and just wanted a shiny set with a rose detail. With the exception of the pierced spoon, which I despise. br>br>UPDATE: As an added note on matching missing Arbor Rose pieces with True Rose: There are many listings for Oneida Arbor Rose/True Rose on the internet, leading one to believe they are the same plant. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. The older/better Oneida stainless steel flatware (Arbor Rose) is made of 18% chromium and 10% nickel (18/10). Nickel (18/0) is not present in the newer product (True Rose). Is it really that crucial? YES! Nickel is a costly metal that adds superior rust and stain resistance to flatware, making it far more durable. Because it is, True Rose appears to be less expensive and less long-lasting than Arbor Rose. br>br>I'm still perplexed as to why the details on the True Rose pieces I received lack oxidation. They should, according to the Oneida website.
My 20-year-old set was a dreadful imitation. This new image does not match the rose design; it appears that the rose has been stamped backwards. The image is not clear or distinct; however, if you turn the item over, you can see the image of a rose - in the opposite direction! Very let down.
I had company for dinner on Labor Day, and I realized I didn't have a hostess set. I ordered the Oneida True Rose Serving Set after making do with random forks and spoons. It's attractive, made of high-quality stainless steel, and comes with all of the necessary pieces for a potluck meal.
I bought the 5-piece serving set to go with the rest of the Oneida set that we bought for my daughter and son-in-law. law. The entire set appeals to them.
It's well-made. It's almost a perfect match for a discontinued set I have, and it's very sturdy. This is ideal.
This set went perfectly with the oneida true rose flatware I already had.
With the exception of the knives, this set is very well coordinated. The handles are a huge letdown for me. They were significantly thinner and lighter than the knives I was attempting to replicate. I'm sorry to say, but I'm thinking about returning the sets. The service set is extremely attractive.
Made in the United States and of excellent quality! Furthermore, the prices are extremely reasonable. I'm a big fan of Oneida's products.
