I'm really happy with the mug I got. I've microwaved it several times with no problems, and I always put it in with the lid on and the vent open. I've never tried cooking with tomatoes before. Due to previous experience with the Tupperware travel soup mug in any form. br>I really like the mug, and I'm thinking about getting something else from the same company. br>The soup mug is a must-have. I didn't use the mug at all. So, when I opened my package, I noticed something on the mug that looked like glue of some sort. I get a whiff of something minty as I begin scraping it with my nail. It's then that I realize it's gum. Someone else's gum got stuck in my mug. Now, I'm not a "prissy" girl, and I don't get skeeved easily (I have two small children), but this made me uncomfortable. I know I could have just washed it, but I ended up tossing it in the garbage.
It gets five stars because it accomplishes exactly what I needed. I bought this specifically to heat up and eat soup for lunch, and I took a picture so that anyone else looking for something similar can see how an 18. It can hold a 5 oz can of soup. Furthermore, the handle does not become hot, and the lid is secured by three sturdy tabs, making it simple to walk to an open table in the work lunchroom without spilling.
I've seen a lot of negative feedback on these products; Even from New Zealand, where the company was founded, the majority of these are about:
1. not being leak proof (when filled with soup or other liquids and carried in lunchbags, they leak)br> 2. When using these products in the microwave, there are a few things to keep in mind:br>br>If you are considering these products, there are a few things to keep in mind: 1. br>br> 2. br>br> 3. br>br> 4. b The Sistema microwaveable containers (mostly red plastic) DO NOT LEAK. With the lids on, they're designed to be heated. If they were leak-proof, the steam pressure would cause them to explode. I believe there are microwaveable leak-proof containers made of pyrex, but the instructions state that the lids must be removed before heating.
2. Plastic microwaveable containers, in my opinion, are appropriate for reheating water-based beverages. based foods, steaming, or boiling for a short period of time They are not cookware in my opinion. The containers are microwaveable up to 240 degrees F, according to the bottom label. (The storage containers have a temperature rating of 212 degrees Fahrenheit. ) ) To me, this means they're primarily used for steaming and heating water to the boiling point. Food containing OIL or SUGAR should not be microwaved, according to Tupperware's microwave guidelines. Both the oil and the sugar will easily reach temperatures of 300 degrees F. People who melt their plastic containers, in my opinion, are attempting to heat food that contains a lot of oil and/or sugar but not enough water, causing the plastic to melt.
Other plastic containers can be used to heat soup as well. This one isn't leakproof, but it'll suffice if you're simply moving it from the microwave to your desk or table; NOT for "on-the-go" meals. the- If you don't want a shambles, don't say "go. " I usually use this to heat standard Campbell's condensed soups without diluting them, so it's never completely full. The handle is convenient, but this mug isn't particularly space-saving. Compared to a standard bowl or cup, this is a significant improvement in terms of age. br>br>There's one more annoyance: The instructions specifically state that it is not for popcorn, so the website description bullet point is incorrect; additionally, the instructions recommend that the interior be coated with cooking spray to prevent staining- what? I'm going to spray this thing with cooking spray before putting my soup in it, gross!.
This is large enough to hold a 20-inch laptop. When I nuked chili in it, a 16-ounce can of Progresso soup did not stain at all. br>br>I put a piece of paper towel over the cup before clamping the cover on to make it easier to clean. The towel keeps the mess off the chili's cover when the beans explode: )br>br>I'm not sure if it's leak-proof enough for a backpack, but it works great in my RV refrigerator. Would I buy it again? br>br>Would I recommend it to others? Perhaps not – I just saw a different brand in the supermarket that is likely to be leak proof and costs a dollar less.
Okay, I got this while grocery shopping the other day (hence the different color;) It's the same brand, and I had to check the bottom to see if it was the same size as this product), assuming that, based on all of the positive reviews, it would be ideal for packing lunch for work. br>However, there is one exception. That's not the case. That's not the case. br>br>It was fantastic in terms of packing! All of the inquiries about how leak-proofing works are addressed in this article. I poured an entire can of chicken soup into it, sealed the vent and lid, and placed it in my cooler to prove it wasn't a problem. It was never a problem. br>br>On the other hand, heating up the soup. So I opened the vent and popped it in the microwave, and while the soup heated up evenly, it kind of exploded all over the inside of the mug. The underside of the lid is badly pitted, and the top of the mug has been pitted as well; It's oddly pitted ABOVE the soup, rather than where the mug was filled with soup. br>br>I think I'll have to go back to using paper towels on top of an open bowl until I can get rid of the old bowls. br>br>Just to clarify, the soup was not particularly oily; it was simply chicken soup. I've had worse in the old bowls, and they take a long time to pit this much. This one was purchased because I figured that something made specifically for microwaving soup would last LONGER.
If I had the option, I would give this a zero! I was thrilled to receive this because I bring soup to work almost every day. I used it once, making sure the "Sistema" was open to allow ventilation while in the microwave, hand washed it, and the next time I tried to use it, the Sistema button at the top would not close all the way, preventing me from transporting my soup because it would leak/spill! Don't waste your time or money on this.
