Ok for sencha-style sencha-style sencha-style other teas will benefit from it; UPDATE: The filter is slowly breaking down
3/5

The condition of the filter worsened. As a result, the kyusu becomes unusable after a few months of use. It's a pain to clean the filter. And the more you clean it, the more it begins to separate from the metal ring that keeps it together. As a result, the top circle of the filter begins to develop more and more holes, allowing leaves to pass through. br>br>While the glass is of good quality, and I enjoy watching the tea steep, I can't recommend this because the basket filter is difficult to clean and so fragile that it only lasts a few months. This could be improved to a 5/5 star rating if the filter was improved. It's a 2/5 if you don't have that.
- br>I chose this kyusu because I find most of them difficult to keep free of sencha leaves. It's extremely difficult to completely clean out my ceramic kyusus without destroying the filter; However, they gradually accumulate loose leaves, which taint the tea's flavor. br>br>At first, I thought this kyusu was fairly simple to clean, and it still prepares sencha (and shincha) well. Some small leaves, on the other hand, tend to get pinched between the metal basket (mesh or filter) and the ring that keeps the basket in place. You can still clean out all of the leaves, but it will take some effort to get them all out- Especially since pushing things out of (or off) a filter with water can be tricky. Unfortunately, the most effective way to remove small leaves from between the basket and the ring is to press the basket away from the ring while running water along it. This effectively directs all of the leaves into the basket's center. The basket can then be inverted and water used to remove all of the leaves. Isn't it fantastic? NOT AT ALL QUICKLY. The more you do it (which you should do after each use), the more the mesh begins to pull away from the metal ring. I now have 5 small (1 cm) places where the mesh of the basket no longer connects completely to the ring after using it for a few months. As a result, when I use it, the leaves can easily pour into the tea cup from these spots. That's a big negative for me because it means it's no longer useful. Larger tea leaves (e. g. , sencha) are more likely. Typical oolong or long leaf black teas are fine, but sencha is not. br>br>If I could just get a replacement basket, which appears to be inexpensive, I could probably solve most of my current problems. Getting one from China, I'm guessing, wouldn't set you back more than a dollar or two. But I have no idea where to order it, and I haven't been able to locate one from Hario. As a result, it's possible that it's no longer valuable to me. br>br>On the plus side, despite its fragile appearance, the glass appears to be far more durable than I had anticipated. So far, it hasn't broken, and I'm not concerned that it will. It's also great to be able to see the color of the tea you have at the end of the steeping process because it's done in a transparent medium. I'll raise my review stars in the future if I can find a cheap replacement basket, and I'll probably only use this for non-essential items. Sencha teas are a type of tea that is popular in Japan. Deep steamed sencha kyusu is still a work in progress.

I brew sencha in this pot on a daily basis. Green tea from the Fukamushi region of Japan. This teapot comes highly recommended by me.
