Purchase an in-ground pool at Lowe's or Home Depot. a filter for lines
You'll need access to a water line as well as a drainage area (1/4" tubing). My water line is connected to the cold water line of my washing machine, with an adapter to handle the ice machine's 1/4" fitting, and the ice machine's drain is 1/4" tubing. Initially, I tried collecting it in a pan and hoping it would evaporate, but there was enough residual water in the pan that I was concerned it would become unpleasant over time, so I installed the tubing in a small diameter PVC run with a small slope to ensure adequate drainage. Because I didn't have a floor drain, I extended the PVC through my patio wall to drip outside; there may be a better way to handle the drainage, but it worked for me. br>br>Just so you know, I also bought an inline filter that connects between the main water inlet and the ice machine because I wanted nice, clear, clean ice and didn't want to have to worry about descaling the ice machine because of our hard water. br>br>As for the garage, my machine is on my enclosed patio, next to my washing machine, and I haven't had any problems with it overheating so far in Texas, where it's already in the upper 90's. This machine has provided me with a lot of satisfaction.
Yes, it automatically turns off when it's made enough ice to reach the threshold and then makes more when it's low.
It's on the back right bottom corner of the equipment, and it protrudes 3/4" from the equipment. The outside diameter (OD) of this item is 5/8 inches. 1/2 pipe diameter

Worth it. I was like "I dunno" at first, but I went ahead and bought the machine with the filter they recommended (which I strongly advise against). Although the machine can only hold 28 pounds of ice, it produces ice every 12 minutes. There are 13 minutes remaining. It worked fine for about a week before refusing to pump any water. I suspected the pump was faulty, so I disassembled the machine (voiding the warranty), and after letting the filter run clean before installing it, I noticed all this sand material. I cleaned the pump and removed the filter, and it now works much better than it did previously. The ice it produces is the best part; it freezes hard and stays solid! Even room temperature drinks won't melt the ice quickly! When it stops pumping and the E2 button flashes (error), I simply press the off button and wait 2 to 3 minutes before turning it back on. Later, I'll put in the cloth-style filter. I plan to buy another one as well. More ice would be nice.
It has a nice appearance. Wheels make it portable. However, the ice produced by this machine will not stay frozen for long! The ice must be removed after it has formed, or it will melt.
This one was chosen based on the reviews and price, as well as the fact that it does exactly what it claims to do. We live in Florida, so the ice lasts for a few days (with some melting). br>After filling the bin, I turn it off. I refill when it runs out (due to use or melting). br>I raised it a little and extended the drain line, and there have been no issues thus far.
NOTE: FOR THE FIRST FILL, IT TAKES A WHILE. WALK AWAY FROM IT AND LEAVE IT ALONE. We fussed and worried, and the next morning, it was completely full.
So far, everything has gone well. It was well packaged when it arrived. I could see how rough handling during shipping could result in damage, but I didn't experience any. br>In my garage, the setup was fairly simple, though I did require some fittings to connect to my R. system. In addition, I had a spare condensate pump that I could use to remove melt water. (It's a contactor for the HVAC system. ) )br>This unit is capable of producing around 70-80% of the total energy required. 80 lbs. So I'm satisfied after a day in my hot garage in north Texas. I don't mind the size or consistency of the cubes. Some people may expect something different, but this is not the same as a freezer ice maker. br>For the price, I'll be happy if the unit lasts a long time; anyone who knows anything about ice machines knows that "big name" machines cost four times as much as this one. They cost five times as much and have the same problems. I'll update this as needed if I have any major issues. br>Recent changes: 1/22br>Well, I was 4 months out of warranty when I got the dreaded E2 code. I believe it is due to a lack of refrigerant (propane in this case). I did buy the Asurion warranty plan, which is good for four years. I'm hoping they'll be able to find someone to help them with it. They have my best wishes. I work in the HVACR industry, and I doubt they'll be able to find anyone willing to work on a unit that isn't industry standard. I'll give Asurion a few days to figure it out and then see what happens. br>In the near future, I'll be posting a "review" of their extended service plan.
This ice machine is fantastic, though I did have some difficulty cleaning it at first. It says to clean the moveable parts, but I'm not sure how you do that. The tubing connection was said to leak in some reviews, but I had no issues. To avoid hard water buildup, I purchased an online water filter. Some reviews stated that it did not keep ice for long, but I have mine on the patio and it took five days for a full bin to melt. To me, that was sufficient. I don't run a business, so when the ice maker runs out or I need to fill an ice chest, I simply switch it back to ice-making mode.
We contacted the company after trying to fix it for two days. They replaced the machine for no charge and had it shipped the same day! Working with them was a pleasure. 100% strong recommendation.
Ice cubes are opaque and are placed as a single large block in a 9x5 grid. The cubes are not easily broken apart because the block is hard, and the machine is much louder than our old one, which is probably less of a problem in a commercial setting. br>br>While the machine produces ice quickly, the cubes are uneven and have large pits and holes. I'm not sure if I'll keep it. Before making a decision, I'm going to contact customer service and request assistance.
