What is the width of the widest part of ten? bread knife with a width of an inch?

The intersection of the blade and the handle is the widest part. It's 1 3/4 inches, as far as I'm able to tell. The knife has a razor-sharp edge to it. Because I don't have much space, I bought the Mercer Culinary 10" X 2" knife guard later.

Why is the wide wavy bread knife (m23210) with a black handle so expensive? 73, as well as the grey/white wide wavy bread knife (m23210gy), which costs $17. 00? a $7. The difference is 73! ?

I wish I was aware of this. That was a problem for me as well. I did buy a blue, gray, and black knife, so it's the same knife. I've given two of them away as presents. Nonetheless.

It has a lot of bite to it. This is one sharp knife, as evidenced by the eight stitches in my left index finger. That was, of course, my fault, the result of a brief lapse in concentration while slicing ciabatta bread. However, I can attest to the fact that this knife slices cleanly and almost painlessly. On the handle end, it has a fantastic feel. ) and demolishes any type of bread in a flash. It is something I strongly suggest.

I needed a better bread knife, so I went with this one, which came highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen

It has rubber grips and simply feels good in your hand; it is extremely sharp and produces smooth cuts with virtually no crumbs. By slicing very thinly sliced bread, I decided to test the knife's sharpness and control. The photos depict the result of a 1/8" thick slice of bread that was almost transparent. I believe that with a little more practice, I will be able to make it thinner, as I believe the knife is capable of doing so.

A problem with the design of the safety features

The knife's sharp edge protrudes past the handle. That is, if you look at the knife in profile, with the cutting edge down and parallel to the floor, the lowest point is the back of the cutting edge just before the handle. This makes it easy for a finger to get caught on the blade's backside while cleaning. I did, in fact, sever my finger. Is it possible that I'm just a dunderhead? Possibly. However, I'll be replacing this knife with one that doesn't have the design flaw I've mentioned. I've also found it difficult to clean. br>br> When cutting dense breads, a stubborn film forms on both sides of the cutting edge, which I've found difficult to remove. (I do all of my laundry by hand. ).

I bought this knife after reading an excellent review on America's Test Kitchen, then seeing it recommended by other sources, and finally reading excellent reviews on Amazon. Based solely on my comparisons to other knives I own, I give the knife a solid 5 stars. Slicing crusty homemade bread was the main reason I bought this knife. After removing the package, I washed and began cutting a couple slices from a homemade loaf that had been sitting out for two days, indicating that the outer crust had become quite hard; however, on the second cut, I wasn't paying close enough attention and cut my index finger. It took only a few seconds for the blade to make a 1/8" deep cut, which is about the same depth as the serrated edges. I know it sounds strange, but it felt like this blade wanted to dig deep into the loaf with each sawing motion on the first cut and subsequent cuts, and I mean that in a good way. I think this is an excellent bread cutting knife; the quality of construction for a mass-produced knife appears to be exceptional; however, I'm not taking any chances; this knife lives in a sheath in a drawer with no other knives and is kept separate from other items; I also wash it. I want to use this for a lifetime, so I dry it immediately after each use and return it to its home. This is great for anyone's kitchen and would be a very nice in-home addition. a costly present I strongly advise you to buy.

This knife was chosen by America Test Kitchen as the best bread knife, and they were not wrong. Don't be fooled by the bargain price. This knife has a razor-sharp edge to it. Because I bake all of our bread products, I have a lot of bread to slice. When I first baked the hamburger buns, they were very soft and difficult to slice. This knife sliced right through them with a single swipe, leaving no trace. The handle is extremely comfortable to hold and perfectly fits my medium-sized hand. Also, the handle is slightly offset to keep your knuckles from slamming into the cutting board; yes, I'm a knife snob, and this one is fantastic!.

I wish everyone had a knife that was better than the one we got

At first, the knife appeared to be absolutely fantastic, with razor-sharp edges all over. The edge of the knife became very dull after slicing up a dozen or so loaves of artisan bread. The cutting edge had folded over on a microscopic level, according to a close inspection. Not only did the cutting edge bend or dull, but it also folded. When the blade gets too hot during factory grinding and the steel becomes annealed, this happens. There is no cure for this besides manually re-grinding a new edge at low speed. fine-tuning I've gone over everything again. The blade was sharpened twice to restore the cutting edge, but it became dull again after regular use. This indicates that the annealing is deep into the blade and/or the steel is defective; even if the knife were free, it would not be worth the price because it wastes time and risks injury while slicing artisan bread due to slippage. Because a dull knife is dangerous, I'll resharpen the Mercer blade and keep it for cutting foam once our new Spyderco bread knife arrives. It'll make a great upholstery and aquarium filter foam knife. Ours was a flop when it came to breads with hard crusts and soft centers. Other buyers may have received better steel or knives with edges that were not annealed during production. I'm not sure, but I think it's important to alert other potential buyers. I wish everyone had a knife that was better than the one we got.

This knife is absolutely incredible. For my crusty home, I've been looking into bread knives. I was dissatisfied with a previous purchase of a Dalstrong knife, which, despite its elaborate packaging and rave reviews, turned out to be just as dull as my 30-year-old one. year- I needed to replace an old knife, so I did. After watching the video of America Test Kitchen's serrated knife testing, I was taken aback to learn that this was their pick - It's nothing fancy, but it's razor sharp and cuts through bread like butter. If you watch the video, you'll notice that one of the keys is the use of wider, fewer teeth, which allows each serrated tooth to exert a significant amount of force. It comes in one of those dreadful hard plastic battery cases, but once you open it - Keep an eye out! It has a lot of bite to it. Try slicing a thin slice of crusty bread with this tool and you'll see what I mean.
