You won't have to use file unless you have a bench grinder or a file. Initially I scratched the surface of the cupboard after sliding it in. After I ground the sharp ends of the 4 legs, I put the ring on that is beneath the bottom ring on the grinder. With this new design, it is safe to slide into the cupboard or onto a countertop. I find this design to be awful.
As it is, the upright handle seems a little off and I hope it will hold up when I load the caddy with heavier items such as ketchup and mustard. The handle did not feel tightly secured when I tipped it back so it wouldn't fall over. Sadly, the caddy does not have equally lengthened feet, so when you set it down or move it, it may not remain balanced no matter how you position it. The fact that it looks good and serves a purpose will lead me to Replacements are not guaranteed to be better than their predecessors.
It was used as a condiment caddy when eating oyster roasts and as a kitchen item. There is enough room to hold a variety of sauces and condiments so they can be carried around in and out of the house without difficulty. It would work anywhere thanks to its stylish simplicity. It's great to have a place to keep all the small condiments, and I need something like this to get organized. You can carry items such as salt and pepper from the counter to the table, which keeps them organized. I like the look. It has a very commercial feel.
