A 6-inch tear is visible on the top of the tear. You would have trouble fitting a 8-inch cake on top if you left it as is. Although you can rearrange the tiers to have a larger one on top, it would defeat the purpose of the item and make it look ugly.
It's impossible to fit a cake larger than 6 inches in the top tier
A 32 piece 3 inches cupcake could fit in the container. I have included a picture of the "4 tier" original stand. It has all the measurements on it for you to see.
Everything looks exactly like it does in the picture. A very easy assembly is also possible

I couldn't believe how quickly it came together and how easy it was to assemble. I used a few of the tiers, but it is very versatile. You can think about how you would like it to look. The display was a big hit with everyone. A storage bag is included as well as the ease of washing. This product is great!.
It provided ample room to hold all 32 cupcakes! For taking it down and reassembling it it is invaluable to have the little screwdriver that comes with it. As far as the four feet are concerned, I left them attached but took apart the little center poles between the shelves for storage in the convenient bag that comes with the unit. To make the component storage easier, I also stored the Other components into a few sandwich ziplock bags. What a great idea!.
This cake stand is of excellent quality at an amazing price. You can use it for tiers or customize it to meet For the cake, I used three 8" tiers - two large bottom tiers for cupcakes and a third for muffins. Arrived fairly quickly, item was as described, but I would have preferred it if it were a little more robust. The chair does wobble a bit, so be mindful not to knock it over accidently. There were thirty cupcakes available in the 4 tier version. It is nice to know that the cloth bag provided by the manufacturer/vendor can be used to store it.
