I'm not sure what it is, but it appears to be thin aluminum or a thin metal alloy, not plastic or glass.
The plastic caps have never caused me any problems. They are well-fitting and comfortable to wear.

The set included spice and herb labels, but there were a few that were out of the ordinary! I would have preferred blank labels to things like "Pepper Guajilo Chile," "Ras El Hanout," or "Vindaloo. " " Huh? Perhaps the company should consider creating different jar labels for various countries? For the American market, there are fewer "Rose Petals," "Fish Stock," "Furikake," and "Galangal," and more blank labels for those of us who dry a lot of herbs to make Italian seasoning for gifts. These concoctions take up a lot of space in the bottle! This is merely an idea. The jars were fantastic, and the screw-on lids were ideal; however, not all of the plastic shaker lids fit properly.
This particular set of jars was purchased for one specific reason: caps made of metal The herbs and spices I buy from Penzey's, for example, have very fragile plastic caps that break immediately if the jar is dropped. After a while, I had a few jars with cracked caps that wouldn't close properly. So I placed an order for these. Above and beyond my expectations: 1. br>br> Packing was excellent. I was taken aback by the closed-door atmosphere. Each jar is securely and separately held in a compartment of cell foam. In transit, there is no risk of breaking.
2. This is a very comprehensive label set. I thought the labels were a gimmick at first, but there were ten pages of peel-and-stick labels. off self- 35 labels per page (last page isn't full, so black labels can be written on as needed). Because the labels are round, I placed them on a lid (which is easily visible if the jars are stored in a drawer) and applied them with my label-making machine. maker to create labels for the jar's side (for when it's on the shelf).
3. Jars with a lot of weight: In the event of a fall, thick glass will have a good chance of surviving. Because of their square shape, jars can be packed tightly to increase interior volume. I should have purchased these years ago. br>br> I'd like a smaller set with an 8-ounce capacity (for herbs that I use frequently), but I'm very happy with these.
I found exactly what I needed in these spice jars. I preferred glass to plastic, square to round, and pre-assembled rather than assembled. labels that have been printed I wanted them to be able to fit into a drawer so that I could find them quickly when I needed them. br>Whenever I've received a pre- In the past, printed labels had far too many flaws to justify their use. These jars include 9 pages of round labels (35 per page) that can be applied to the lid or the front of the jar. Because I'll be putting them in a drawer, I put them on the lid. There are ten blank labels in total, but I doubt you'll use them all. Almost everything is covered by the printed labels: I did add a date in pencil to indicate when I bought the spice - 5 types of allspice, 6 types of basil, 8 types of curry powder, etc. I keep track of everything so that I can replace anything that loses its effectiveness. Of course, the drawback to all of these labels is that they make you want to eat even more spices! To keep up with my ever-growing collection, I had to order a third case.
This is fantastic in every way. There are a plethora of labels from which to choose. I'm in love with them and couldn't be more pleased. The price was significantly lower than anything offered by TCS.
Until I bought this set, I had to rummage through a bin of spices to find what I needed. Shaker and top caps are included, as well as labels, a small funnel, and a foam container to keep the bottles safe. I simply cut down the box it came in and rearranged the spice bottles alphabetically on the foam for easy access. The money was well spent. Normally, I would add a negative comment, but this time there are none.
Labels listed irrelevant products that would never be stored in such small spice jars, and there were insufficient herb labels, or at least blank ones, to go around.
They fit perfectly on the two 10-inch step shelves I bought from Amazon as well. The jars were all in good condition, with no breaks due to the excellent packaging. The spice labels are fantastic; they include every spice you can imagine and more. If the person who said there were no Oregano labels was correct, I received four different kinds of Oregano labels. My Black Lava Salt even had its own label!br>Overall, the bottles are excellent, and I received them with free next-day delivery.
One of the lids also had a dent in it. I requested replacements but never received a response. Not like any other "issues" I've encountered on Amazon - Sellers, on the whole, respond quickly. Very let down. However, if all of your bottles arrive undamaged, you'll be pleased: They're a good size and have simple lines.
