Every few days, I make sun tea with mine, and it's great. So that no pressure builds up, I keep the flip top lid slightly ajar. I'm on here because I forgot to put the sun tea in the freezer to cool after I made it, and it exploded yesterday. It's time to invest in a new one.

Yes, I regularly pour boiling water into room temperature canning jars with no problems; however, the jar will become very hot, so use mitts. I'm not sure if putting the plastic cap on right after filling with hot water is a good idea, because the plastic may not hold up as well as the glass.
It's a 64oz mason jar, which, like all mason/ball jars, has been found to be lead-free.

I loved this pitcher until this morning, when I poured water into it to make iced tea (which I'd been doing for nearly 6 months since buying it in January) and the entire bottom portion splintered and broke. It wasn't boiling water; it was just warm enough to make a cup of tea. The company refused to replace it, claiming that their warranty does not cover "accidents," despite the fact that this was clearly not an accident. It should have been able to withstand warm liquids, but it couldn't; this is a defect in the product. Although the design is appealing, the quality is lacking, and I will not be purchasing another. It was a fairly costly pitcher, and it shattering in less than a year after purchase is inconvenient. In the photo I included, you can see how the base has splintered.
The only one I could find was an Anchor Hocking pitcher, which you can see next to my mason jar pitcher in the photo. The Anchor Hocking pitcher is fine, but it's difficult to clean, the white rubber lid is permanently stained with tea stains, and it's not as comfortable to hold. As the mason pitcher is, it pours for me, but tea drips down the spout once I stop pouring, so I have to wipe it down before putting it away each time. Everything I've been looking for in a mason jar pitcher has arrived! It's not only a cute mason jar pitcher, but it also saves space, pours easily and without drips, has a handle to make pouring easier, the lid's cap doesn't close on you while you're pouring, and is easier to clean. I don't think my tea will stain the lid, but if it does, I won't be too bothered because the lid is a nice dark gray color. I'd like to get another of these pitchers to replace my Anchor Hocking one (I rotate two pitchers in my refrigerator)! This fantastic pitcher comes highly recommended from me!.
It's been fantastic. Even when mixing intensely upside-down, there are no leaks. The pouring lid flips up easily and without force (which is ideal for arthritic hands). The larger lid is also very easy to unscrew - there are no leaks Chemicals are not leached from the plastic. It's simple to maintain. Is the material long-lasting? The glass is a replaceable wide-mouth canning jar, so we'll probably bang it against the end of the sink one day, but it's cheap to replace, and we think it's a plus because it's easy to clean and doesn't leach chemicals. We purchased both the unit and the lid separately so that we could use the separate lid on another wide-mouth canning jar.

I have no idea what caused the 25% increase in price increase in price increase in price increase in price My first thought was that it was made in China, and that because we are currently engaged in a trade war with China, the company needed to raise the product price; however, the lid appears to be made in Taiwan, so I'm not sure why. Adding a handle to a mason jar is an excellent idea. I make cold brew coffee and kefir at home and needed airtight pitchers to store them in the fridge. This has served its purpose admirably. I like that the flip cap can be opened with one hand and doesn't move when I'm pouring, and that the handle doesn't feel like it's going to snap from the weight of the contents inside. I also appreciate the fact that it does not drip or spill while being poured. br>My issue is with the actual lid/handle part, which has sharp plastic handles (see photos). If you move your hand up or down too quickly, you'll likely slice it, so I ended up filing the edges down slightly. However, the manufacturer should have heated it to smooth out the edges. It makes me wonder about the quality assurance department at the company.
I needed a pitcher that wouldn't leak like my previous one did (what a mess it was just pouring a glass of beverage!). ) I looked through a lot of pitchers on Amazon until I found one that I liked - this pitcher made out of Mason jars I liked what was promised (no leaking, for example), and the jar had a good reputation. So I bought it, and I'm very happy with it. It's the perfect size, and the contents can be shaken and poured with ease. Overall, a fantastic buy! Thanks!.
