Questions & Answers
The glass does not contain any lead. The lids are BPA-free as well. free. Both are designed and manufactured in the United States of America.
Yes, the handle on this bottle can be washed in the dishwasher. I believe it pours beautifully and forms a nice stream rather than running down the sides as some do. But, since I'm the seller, we might as well get some feedback from other users.
The cap can be used again and again. We've had about six of them in our kitchen for about a year and a half and they're still working and looking great.
Is there any way to freeze them? Sure. Would I use them to store my excess raw milk in the freezer? Probably not, mainly because I wouldn't want to "waste" a good container on something that might be stored for a while; however, if you DO freeze your milk in them, I would leave a lot of headroom.

We keep iced teas, juice, and kool aid in these, and I love how three of them fit neatly in my refrigerator door. With a bottle brush and soapy water, or in the dishwasher, cleaning is simple. Yes, with repeated use, some caps will split and handles will break, but The Dairy Shoppe sells replacement caps and handles on Amazon for a pittance. Two caps that had split and two handles that had broken were replaced today. That's not bad considering how much we've used and abused these bottles over the last four years! After a quick soak in boiling water to soften the new handles, they can be easily slipped on the neck. If you are buying these brand new, I recommend purchasing replacement caps and handles. Only one bottle cracked in four years, and that was because I put too hot tea in the fridge too soon. We've learned to let these bottles cool on the counter before putting them in the fridge because they can handle hot tea right away. I was worried that my child would struggle with the bottles and break them. I bought them for him when he was three, and now that he is seven, he has no trouble grabbing them and serving himself if the bottle isn't completely full. They also made it through my clumsy grasping of them with my non-dominant hand. After breaking my dominant hand's wrist last year, I'm completely reliant on the handle with my dominant hand. Two of our handles had failed at that point. As a result, these bottles have proven to be winners in our house and have stood the test of time.
It arrived today, obviously used, and does not appear to have been cleaned thoroughly. There were large deposits of milk stone inside the container, it was damp, and it smelled mildewy when opened. In addition, the cap's seal had vanished. I double-checked the description and found no indication that these are used glasses, and the one I previously purchased appeared to be brand new and clean. Nonetheless, I give it a high rating because the jars are attractive and keep my (goat) milk fresh for several days. They're simple to pour from, clean, and the glass is thick, making the jars sturdy and long-lasting. I like the grippy side that allows me to handle the jars with wet hands and not have them slip. I deducted one star because I believe the old milk should have been thoroughly cleaned before being sent.
Every week, we buy raw milk, but it comes in plastic containers. We fill these with milk and they work perfectly. I'm not sure if it's just my imagination, but the milk tastes colder and better. It also brings back memories of when we were children and how the milk would be delivered to our door. (Yeah, we're getting on in years. ).
I bought this 1/2 gallon glass bottle from Shenandoah Homestead Supply in November 2016 to keep my favorite beverage, milk, in a cooler at work. I've used it every workday since; the glass is thick and heavy, and it hasn't cracked or chipped anywhere, even after slamming it against other glass items and frozen solid freezer packs multiple times a day in my refrigerator and cooler. During the last three months of use, the lid has not leaked or become loose, but please note that I do not tip the bottle to see if it leaks. The plastic handle, on the other hand, was broken. (When it's cold, plastic becomes brittle. ) I couldn't find replacement handles on Amazon, so I contacted the seller, Shenandoah Homestead Supply, via the Amazon seller page and asked if they had any. Shenandoah Homestead Supply responded by email, stating that they had handles in stock and would send me a replacement. After a few days, I received the replacement handle from them, and my milk bottle is now as good as new.
4. 5 stars for the product (although I think I prefer old-school metal handles) and 5 stars for the seller Shenandoah Homestead Supply for going above and beyond the sale and replacing the handle.
I like this product and will be ordering another one soon, this time with extra lids. Because the handle piece appears to be a little flimsy, it is not recommended that you hold it by the handle. Because the lid is flimsy, it's a good idea to have a few extras on hand in case the first one breaks. Overall, I like how the milk in the refrigerator is kept cool. I'm not sure how long it will keep the milk fresh or good for.
I don't use the caps as often as I intended because they are plastic snap on and difficult to remove after being in the refrigerator for a while. The issue could be solved by using a silicon cap.
It has a flimsy plastic top. The company appears to be considering upgrading to a more durable screw-in system. Instead, use the top lid. I bought extra lids just in case the first one failed. When the jar is full, I'm not sure I can trust the handle to carry it. However, it is convenient to take it from the refrigerator or a shelf. When pouring, it's also helpful.
It's made of heavy glass, with a re-usable plastic cap. The cap snaps on and off (rather than twisting), and the plastic handle is strong enough to hold the bottle securely. I'll be ordering another for my kids to use with flavored almond milk. I would strongly advise!.
