The opening is large enough to accommodate ice cubes from an ice tray or ice cubes from the refrigerator.
I'm not sure if it's leak proof, but it loses heat a lot faster than other Carafes I've used. The top-mounted pouring button was not airtight, allowing some liquid to escape if it was shaken. as well as the heat!
Lids break and are unable to be fully cleaned. I'm only looking for a NEW LID. The carafe is in excellent condition.
something along the lines of a sun tea canister (with a spigot like a big coffee pot?) ) could be an option- The only requirement is that the spout has a large enough diameter to prevent the soup from becoming stuck! A large ceramic pitcher might be a good idea. best wishes - Anne

They changed the design to rely on a cheap, easily broken flipper to keep the pump in place while in use. It used to be metal (1" x 1" x 1" x 1" x 1" x 1"), but now it 5"). I used to have one with the old design, and it was fantastic. It kept the coffee hot for hours and dispensed it with ease. When the glass broke after I knocked it over, I ordered a new one because it was such a great dispenser. If they didn't replace the sturdy metal tab with cheap breakable plastic, they'd be damned if they didn't. After three days of light use, it broke in half, rendering the device useless. Fortunately, I was able to remove the old top from the broken unit and replace it on the new one, allowing me to enjoy my coffee in the manner that I desired. Amazon had replaced it with another, which also broke within 24 hours due to the same problem! Hopefully, Oggi will see the error of their ways and spend the extra money. 25 and make one with a small metal tab once more!.
It maintains the temperature of the water for almost 24 hours, which is exactly what I required. It's not as well-made as the older model I have, but it's from a different manufacturer. br>Perhaps one of the more expensive models would be more durable. br>On this one, the lid hinge is a little flimsy, and the contents selector on top is a little loose. br>However, I am pleased with its overall performance.
We took the first one to our mountain home because we were so used to the product; we keep our coffee warm in the carafe. We keep the coffee in the carafe after brewing it to keep the original brewed flavor without having to "cook" it in the coffee maker. We gave this carafe a four-star rating rather than a five because when you press the lever to pour the coffee, it spits out of the top lid and drips coffee. This is never the case with our original carafe. The new one has a different kind of lid, which could be the cause of the "spitting" and dripping. Apart from that, it keeps the coffee hot for a long time.
The carafe is a nice touch. It looks great and keeps the coffee hot all night (perfect for a quick cup of hot coffee in the morning). br>br>UPDATE 3/30/2017br>Moved and decided a new one was in order. It's even better than the previous version! I adore it and am a huge fan of OGGI. br>br>UPDATE 8/22/2014br>Tab on lid broke, so I had to buy a new one. It didn't quite measure up to the first. Coffee did not stay hot for as long as it should have. I reached out to OGGI to see if they could help me find a replacement lid for my old one. Emails were kept to a bare minimum. (1)Inform me of your purchase. (2) Please send us your postal address. I sent you an email with my address and the paperwork you should expect. Rather, they sent me a BRAND NEW LID! Awesome! It's great! I used it on a new carafe. So far, the heat has been maintained. ) I really like the carafe, and I'm very happy with the service. I've purchased Oggi products in the past and have always been satisfied, so I'm surprised that this item doesn't deliver what it promises and, on top of that, appears to be a hazard. When you pour hot water into it, it splashes all over the place, burning my hand several times. Fortunately, the water wasn't too scorching! The water loses its temperature in a matter of hours as well. If you're looking for a carafe, but not a thermal carafe, I wouldn't recommend this product.
We'd had an Oggi carafe for quite some time, but it was time to replace it. I like how it now has a larger opening so that I can put a cleaning brush in there. It's a good size, so we can easily make a full pot of coffee in it. The lid is the only thing that keeps me from giving it a five. Because coffee gets inside, you must take care not to spill it on the counter when you remove it. Also, you must apply pressure to the lever in order for it to close. I'm afraid it'll break because it's open (a trick is to press down on the handle when turning to relieve some of the pressure). After a year, our previous one broke, and I had no idea who to contact. They will assist you, but mine was an older model for which no replacement was available. Despite this flaw, I find this carafe to be very appealing.
Every morning we were onsite, we would buy a Starbucks traveler, which would be lukewarm in an hour! Then I came across this lifesaver, COFFEESAVER! Starbucks is far too good to be thrown away, and this kept it HOT for HOURS!.
This carafe is one of my favorites. It keeps coffee hot for a long time, but the plastic push button latch broke last night after only a few months of daily use. The use of thin plastic that is constantly flexed to stay in one piece is a poor design. br>Instead of this faulty designed plastic button, I'd like another push button plastic latch.
