It appears they were meant for beer, but being thick and heavy duty I assume they can be used for ice. I would not recommend trying this because that is a lot of volume. We are talking about beer mugs here, so use them the right way.

Since I am a 'big drink of water,' I often drink a quart of water at a time I eat healthy and drink lots of water (almost exclusively) I wanted a Glass drinking glass since other materials introduce a tangy taste. A wonderful feature of this Glass is its flattened top, which makes it ideal for putting your thumb on, but it also has a comfortable hold and a non-slip base A slip shape is also visible near the base of the glass. The chunk is solid, thick, a little thick but, hey, it's still cool. Doubles as light exercise, which is ideal for someone who works at a desk.
In an accident, I broke one of my husband's favorite large beer glasses. It was a gift from a friend in Germany (we are in the United States) and he worried that a replacement would be difficult to locate that matched what it used to be. He found this to be exactly the same as what he has, and it was so affordable in the two backs that now he has two rather than I was very pleased with the results.
As my search for a product came to an end, I found it! It is almost comical how big this beer stein is. You might not want this if you're trying to find perfect milling, as it has a slight seem that protrudes from the surface, presumably due to the way it was made. In terms of build, it is huge and can hold a lot of beer or any beverage you wish.
There were small cracks in the thick base that eventually grew over a period of about a week, and each of them grew into a crack the size of a pin. However, it did not cause leaking or a complete breakdown. They were being cleaned in the dishwasher and it is possible over time that the expansion of heat caused cracks to appear?.
It is a nice, thick and heavy mug that is a little slippery to hold. My hands are large, and the handles are almost too large for me, but I can still use it. For my ice water at night, I bought these to have on my nightstand. Get up in the middle of the night to fill up my 16oz glass has become a daily chore. There is approximately 35 ounces of capacity in this bottle. It would be recommended.

The new glasses will be a great replacement for my old ones We have several damaged glass mugs that we moved during our previous move.
Besides using them for my warm meal shakes and iced Jack and cokes, I also LOVE them for my cold shakes. Temperatures can be maintained reasonable by the glass because it is thick enough. You should be aware that they're a bit on the heavy side.
It is really nice to have these beer mugs for a good price and good size. I will be ordering two more now.
