There is no sticking of the dough to the spreader
3/5

It is not as easy to use them as they seem in the video. As a result of the slick plastic, it was tough to get the masa to stick to the spreader. The next time I make this corn husk project, I will take some rough sandpaper to it. In addition, your husks need to be almost perfect, in size and texture, and unfortunately corn husks possess many defects I was able to speed up the process once I figured out how to get the masa to stick to the spreader, but it was still extremely frustrating at first. A few notes It is vital that your husks are moisture free before using the spreader to adhere the mass.

This is a game changer
5/5

With this little spreader my tamale making speed has increased by a factor of 10. I'm able to keep two people busy filling at once with this method since it's much faster than the old spoon method. Any person making tamales should give this a try. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube which can help you if you need them.

Is very efficient and significantly reduced the amount of time that tamales need to be assembled
5/5

In other reviews, it stated that the smooth surface of the masa spreader made it difficult to pick up, so I knew I'd need to slightly roughen it once I had it in my hand. When I washed the spreader for the first time, I gently buffed the surface with a Magic Eraser sponge so that it was It was easy for me to pick up a good lump of mass to spread out. It has also been said you must spread on husks smaller than the spreader, but I didn't have an issue spreading on husks wider than the spreader. In the video that demonstrates how to do this, specific husks are used, but if you prefer to make large tamales like I do, then you can do it If you use a lighter hand when spreading, don't make indents with the tamale guide thing as it makes the spread more noticeable. This worked well for making 100+ tamales in a few hours instead of spreading everything with a spoon all day. This is such an ingenious idea!.

I think this is the best invention ever! We give it ten stars
5/5

The New Year of 2020 was the ideal time for me to make Tamales with this easy-to-use product and my expectations were met. Myself and my wife alone made over five dozen Tamales, cheese with jalapenos and classic meat in about two hours. As a result of not having this tool, prior to this year, I typically would not make more than 12 out of the 105 I make. Spreading the mass would take me at least five hours, with each one having a different thickness. I believe that this tool was a gift from God. Taking advantage of Tamal making's simplicity, and the fact that it's SUPER EASY and SUPER FAST, I am now considering starting a side business. Please continue reading. . . The thing I like most is that I can vary the amount of masa in each tamale, so I can make the masa thin or thick depending on my taste. It will take about a dozen spreads to get the feeling for applying the mass and getting the feel for the pressure to apply. Please continue reading. . . A simple plate wash is all that is needed to get everything clean. Please continue reading. . . The plastic material is sturdy and will not break under a maximum pressure of 5 pounds per square inch required to spread the mass, and the pressure isn't that great. Adding more water if you apply a lot of pressure will help spread the mixture. There are too many small air pockets in the mass. It's important to make a smart decision. )So you're asking for trouble if you don't do that. There is no reason for this tool to break unless you stop using Please continue reading. . . Thanks to this tool, I look forward to making Tamales every year, because it's no longer a chore. You are AMAZING for creating this tool - I am so grateful to you.

There is no such thing as an easy way as shown in It takes some practice, and there is a large surface to work with so you must ensure you get the right size/type of corn husk, since it is even harder when you have to join My attempts to use it on two separate occasions ended in failure, and I went back to using my cake frosting spreader
3/5

I don't know if I just need more practice, but I tried it twice and failed each time. You can determine the amount / thickness of mass for the tamale based on the angle where you hold the spreader, but even if I hold it straight (thickest possible layer), there is not enough. As soon as the tamale is cooked, the masa breaks down and the tamale becomes flimsy.

I love these, I'm sure of it! The dough should get wet enough if you get it wet enough
5/5

I love these, I'm sure of it! You can make them work like a charm if you wet the dough enough. For the first two tamales, the masa will not stick to the spreader, so you will have to repeat that process a few times to get it ready for use The tamales are 3. I said earlier that making the masa more wet will ensure that it sticks.

The product seems to be made very durablely
3/5

In all honesty, I would have given a 5 star all around, but I have yet to try out a recipe since I still haven't found one I'm interested in. I guess I was mistaken in thinking that there were going to be one or two recipes included with the Masa Spreader's, but there didn't seem to be any. A sweet corn Tamale recipe is still on my mind and I need it now It will be interesting to see what I think when I find one. Thank you for your interest, but I'm afraid I cannot help more. Although they seem like they would make covering the corn husk much easier and faster, they do look really interesting.

Wonderful tool
5/5

I use it every day. I've looked at all of Sandra Vasquez's videos on her YouTube channel and Facebook page this is an excellent product. I love the tamale spreader because I can easily spread the masa. It would be a good choice for someone who is a beginner such as myself. The masa spreads extremely easily with this tool due to the meat being made the day before and the masa being made the following day. This book is highly recommended.
