There is a smooth finish to the wood. This is an excellent product. I had to return my first order since it was missing the knife. Initially, I thought that Amazon would just send the knife, but not the knife itself. It was necessary for them to order a brand-new one to make it right. My jaw dropped when I saw this. There were all the utensils in this one. Beautiful set. I like it a lot. Besides being so big, the drawers can be opened and you can put slices of cheese or fruit, whatever takes My plans for the holidays have me eager to show off my new house! Despite its weight, this heavy board is extremely durable. It seems to be resistant to cuts and scratches. It is also easy to clean after use. The board is beautiful, and every time we use it, we get comments on how stunning it is. There are four knives hidden inside a removable part of the board. This is an excellent attraction for parties, gatherings, or as a small bite for any kind of Cheese, crackers, and other items will always be available at this station.
