I use them for cereals as well as hot cereals (oatmeal). I use them every morning for breakfast and they are large enough to hold both cold and hot cereals that I eat. I usually have instant oatmeal or grits as a quick breakfast and since I make both with milk, I do not have to worry about the milk boiling over. Bowls like these are very appealing to me. Having been a little deeper than most, they are great for eating soup that is hot because there is less chance of spilling while they hold quite a bit of soup. They are heavy and bulky, so they are unlikely to be too hot to use with hot food. They are also great for serving sides because of their depth. However, they look better than a typical soup bowl if you use them for a side dish like vegetables. It is a great product! (And they hold a little more) and it looks awesome! There is a lot of room in these bowls, which are beautiful. It is perfect for rice, cereal, soft serve ice cream, and anything else It would be okay for me to use the bowls in the microwave, however, I don't have one.
