We are using glass for this decanter. During my research I found that modern clear glass is not contaminated with Typical old glass from the past that did contain lead had a very light green or a very light blue tint. In spite of this, since whiskey can lose its flavor and alcohol content when stored in a decanter for a long time, I would never store whiskey in a decanter.
It is not my place to answer that, but I washed the set by hand out of caution. I was pleased with how it turned out.
Approximately 10in tall is the decanter and three and a half in tall are the tumblers.

So he was given this as a Christmas present. This particular decanter set is for him since he is especially fond of The Next Generation. There was a beautiful storage box complete with series artwork included with the set. Those glasses and decanter look like they could be straight out of an actual episode as they are very futuristic-looking and cool. I referred to the set as "Captain's Ready Room" when I gave it to my husband, who has shown it to all of his Star Trek buddies. Quickly and in good condition, the set arrived. The next time a special occasion comes around, it will be hard to top this one.
A set like this looks amazing, and it feels like expensive glass in no way. This 750 ml decanter set represents the expensive stuff that only comes in 1000 ml bottles. So fill up that half bottle of real stuff before you fill this one up or you'll have a partial bottle to drink from after. Those who enjoy watching young Picard having a drink with Dick Tracy at a bar in some older Dick Tracy episodes will like this.

These glasses and decanter are both very sturdy and come in a beautiful box. The gift set is beautiful. In my office, I plan to use it as a water glass.

Helm. Waiting a bit for this item was frustrating because I really wanted it as soon as possible, but when it arrived it was exactly what I had hoped it would be! It is the perfect bar addition for any Starfleet officer to have in his or her own quarters, except for the size of the decanter. That box is something I'll keep as I can use it to move the set and it's a nice display piece as well!.
The old Star Trek is my favorite, but the new stuff does not appeal to me. Consequently, I found this to be of good use to Despite some glass wear, I value the Star Trek touches and I like the box the set came in. I intend to keep the box together as I keep the set in it.
