This knife seems like it might make a good fighting knife, wouldn't it?

This knife can be used to cut ductwork insulation, but it would slide down the blade if it was used for fighting. Neither pommel nor handle is attached to this sword.

Would you be able to recommend a sheath for the ?

Easy to do. Gordon's Leatherworks and get one made of fine bridle leather for $13 it is made from fine bridle leather. They have their phone number on Facebook, or you can reach them on eBay at - Fat knives like a 1038 are available, as are models like this. I'm glad you're happy, Can you tell me if this would be suitable for skinning roos in the bush?

That's not what it was created for. Livestock was intended to be killed with it. The best knife for skinning is a Bark River one.

It is a tool used for specific purposes
5/5

After the animal has been killed and hung, this is used to bleed it. The sheath that I carry mine in is made of produce knife leather. I'm very pleased with it. An edge is held by the blade as it sharpens. The grip is made from wood and feels very good in my hand. The construction is full tang. The tool is not part of the NSF. If you intend to use it for commercial purposes, it won't be appropriate. The Dick & Co. Is a dexter- In addition to a commercial version, Russell will have a free version as well An anti-slip surface There is an infection caused by bacteria. Working in a commercial environment will require you to have a handguard. Homeowners may be satisfied with this level of service. During slaughter day, if I am butchering one of the animals, this knife is perfect for the job at hand. Double edged, the angle of the blade allows me to quickly and efficiently severe and lance the meat. This knife has serrated teeth that will tear your clothing and rip your skin A tear forms. regular kitchen knife is a little thin, but this knife is a little bit more durable. There is never a time when I take this out into I can toss this into the back of my truck or Jeep if I am in a vehicle. If I am walking, however, this is 1 extra item to carry, that is only appropriate for one job, that takes up space in the backpack, and that adds to the.

A sticker of high carbon steel on an old hickory tree! There are a few advantages to this
5/5

This is a 1095 high carbon steel with a solid temper - A blade with a good amount of flex Manufacturers of Old Hickory in Ontario - The following is the price range for under $15 A product that is easy to modify for better grip Defining the edge is essential to this knife's performance, do not use a grinder and learn to sharpen it! There are some cons to the software The only two I purchased were too few. My dexter-computer is now set up and ready to go I bought a Russell sheath for the knife, which was more expensive The sheath and the knife were both in need of some work, but the knife needed to be sharpened a bit more. We spent around 30 minutes on it, but it was well In order to make the handle similar to the Ek Commando knives grip, I reduced the height of the handle. With this grip, you won't slip and have easy solid gripping! I love it even when it's We used a ballistol to seal the grip after sanding. Patina is better than nothing at all! Patina made with apple cider vinegar A quality coating and a quality coating! Using this method will reduce the risk of After that, I applied Ballistol to soak the grip once again and prevent the sticker from coming apart.

Now it is guaranteed to stick! Double edged blades have a very nice edge that is razor sharp and will easily withstand abuse, even though these knives are NOT intended for skinning, but they may be useful in this area if absolutely necessary. Buying two is a good idea!.

An (very) old school tactical knife? Not without some modifications
5/5

The dimensions are 4 inches wide by 2 feet long by 2 feet high. There are 25 ounces in this package. As well as a portion of a quarter in the Q and A. There are 125 inches of thickness, but it is actually 1/12th of an inch thin. It feels like it's an eighth of an inch thick (but because it's still very stiff it works well for piercing). The knife is by far the best fit and finish I have found on an old hickory knife in the last few months (I have purchased 6 of them). Quite sharp, especially the tip, which is most important in this particular knife. The grip scales were nicely done, which is good and bad, since I had to modify them (details later) and would have liked them on other old hickory knives I have recently found. I think it's a decent deal and a half at $11. As to whether this is a good sticker, what are your thoughts? In its original state, the blade is amazing at thrusting but it is essential to modify the grip if you plan to use it for any serious thrusting. If you thrust strongly and meet resistance with the blade, you will find that your hand slides up onto the sharp edge and it will ruin everything. Depending on its use, the grip may need to be modified. I have tried to do the least amount of modification. Using a round file, I made notches on top and bottom of the scales then wrapped a leather strip tightly around them (racquet grip tape also works and is liquid proof) the notches secure the wrap in place and the leather/grip tape keeps My hand now doesn't slide forward at all as I thrust the knife with all my strength and weight behind it. I have a good old school tactical knife that looks like its shank is made from nasty steel, and its piercing ability is somewhat scary. Having no guard and the blade that is the same width as the grip means you have to add something to the handle to enhance the grip or you will likely cut your hand and possibly sever some tendons just by stabbing with it it is very slippery when it comes out of the box.

A good starting point for a stabbing knife
5/5

My one was sharp when I took it out of Everything went well with the grind. In order to force a patina on the blade, I wrapped it in a vinegar-soaked paper towel and put it in a plastic bag for two hours. My regular treatment for Old Hickory knives is tung oil applied to the chopsticks and mineral oil applied to the blade. This one just got friction tape and motor oil applied. It only cost $8 to purchase a sheath for it, so I now have a decent stab knife to stick in my get-home bag for under $20. In the sheath Please keep reading*.

The utility knife is not very refined
4/5

There is uneven bevels and the blade is not straight, but is Initially, I thought it would be of high quality (workmanship). Unfortunately, it seems not to be. I bought three products but all of their blades were bent. handle angle is one, and the blade angle is a couple degrees off one of these is somewhat ok, but the other two make me seriously wonder what's going on Four of them had unbalanced bevels, two of which were a little uneven from front to back and from side to side. My two-dollar imported dagger's grind is better than any super cheap dagger. The blade on one of the knives was pitted as well. One or two of the handle pins do not fit flush with the handle. A good feel can be felt when using wood scales. As a little surprise, it came with a cardboard sleeve on the blade and it came in a loose package - I expected it to come in a box with a lid - Items were placed in a box with other items I own. Zip-lock bags were placed in the zip-lock bag The cardboard sleeves were held on by a tie so that it was relatively You should be cautious when using double edged knives because they require much greater caution than single This is especially true because of their sharpness. Although it had some issues, I gave it four stars because I assumed the knife steel would be up to par AND the price was less than 7 dollars.
