Unless you use the knife a lot, the knife will not need to be sharpened for a while how often you use it will determine the need. This can be used correctly (for boneless meat/fruit, on a wooden cutting board, etc. Vegetables only) it should maintain its edge for quite some time. Once you notice the blade is not cutting smoothly as before (becoming dull), you will need to use a sharpener to create a new cutting edge.

Japanese knives were always praised for their quality but I was a little wary about purchasing them since they cost a whole lot. I was pleasantly surprised with what I paid for this one! As far as we can tell, it is easy to clean and cuts well. I can't wait to get more use out of it Hopefully I will be able to update once the holidays are over! The journey so far has been amazing! The kitchen is getting a bit noisy now with my partner asking for some.
