Selected User Reviews For Rada Cutlery Utility Steak Knife – Stainless Steel Blade With Brushed Aluminum Handle Made in USA, 8-5/8 Inches
I purchased a number of Rada knives in order to ensure that they all matched. Because they are all unique knives, I will write this review for each of them. br>br>First and foremost, the blades are extremely thin, flexible, and bendable. Three of the knives had one or more bends when they were delivered. The chef's knife is fairly durable, but the steak knives, bread knife, and long utility knife are all prone to bending. This, in my opinion, is a major safety concern. br>br>The knife's handle is extremely uncomfortable to hold. There's no "sculp" to it; it's like holding a round wooden dowel in your hand (the handles are aluminum, so I'm talking about how the knife feels in your hand). The aluminum has a similar feel to it. um. I suppose the best way to describe it is unpolished. They appear to have been left unfinished at the factory, and the aluminum feels rough to the touch, as if I'm about to get a metal burr in my hand. br>br>I would not recommend any of this brand. These knives were a huge letdown for me. I can't comment on the blades' "sharpness" because I couldn't get past the above issues and had to request that they be returned right away. Instead, I went to a nearby shop and purchased a nice set.
My grandmother and mother both treasured their Rada knives, and I have three of my own that are 38 years old but still in excellent condition. I use the Utility/Steak Knife as a long paring knife, just like my mother did, and both of my old ones had bent tips at the very end, so I decided to replace them. Because I don't own a dishwasher, I'll have to hand-wash mine, but based on other reviews, that appears to be the best way to avoid discoloration.
I'm pretty sure these are the same knives my mother had 40 years ago, and they're still razor sharp. They aren't particularly attractive, but they serve their purpose admirably. My mother always washed hers in the dishwasher, and while they did not rust, the handles became dull and dark.
Thirty years ago, at our wedding shower, we received a set of three knives. I had no idea what the knives' brand name was until I received a flyer in the mail advertising a knife that looked eerily similar to the one we had received so many years ago. So, on a whim, I went to Amazon (my go-to source of information). I went to an online store and looked for this knife, then told my husband I was going to order one to see if it was the same one (which I doubted, but tried anyway). When I opened the box and compared my 30 year old knife to the brand new knife, I was surprised to see that it was the same knife; my husband had just sharpened the original knife for the first time in 30 years for me.
I bought this to replace one that I had dropped in an inaccessible part of the kitchen. What an embarrassment! I've been using Rada knives almost exclusively for nearly ten years, and I own 15 of them in addition to my steak knives. I couldn't be happier with their products.
It's time to get a few new utility knives. I'm sure I'll be purchasing more in the future.
These, along with others in different sizes, were purchased as a shower gift. These knives have been in my family for many years and we love them.
I adore them. I already owned five of these knives, which I'd been using for a long time. They sharpen quickly and feel comfortable in your hand; they are neither heavy nor awkward to use. They are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Everything you do in the kitchen will benefit from it. The tomato knife in particular is one of my favorites. It cuts a tomato so cleanly, regardless of how ripe it is. You've come to the right place if you're looking for high-quality, razor-sharp knives.
